Vaccination
Vaccines will allow your pet to continue to build immunity against deadly diseases. Parasites Treatment and Control
Welcoming a new furry addition to your family is a very exciting time but making sure all their healthcare needs are met can be confusing. For puppies and kittens, starting off on the right foot can go a long way making sure they have a healthy and happy life. Puppies and kittens should stay with their mother until they are 8 weeks old. Once they are this age, not only is it time for them to make the transition to your home, it's time to start their vaccines and deworming series.
Pain Management
Because cats do not tolerate standard pain medications such as aspirin, ibuprofen, or Tylenol, we are limited in what we can give them. Recent advances in pain medications have allowed for better pain control in cats than ever before. We may administer a pain injection prior to surgery. After surgery, pain medication is given on a case by case basis. Any animal who appears painful will receive additional pain medication

Infection Treatment

Leptospirosis Treatment
Leptospirosis: A bacteria found in the urine of wildlife, commonly carried by skunks, raccoons, deer, rats, ect…that is passed through contaminated water (including puddles, streams, lakes). The disease can be fatal and, although rare, it may pass to humans.
Parvovirus Infection Treatment
DHPP (Canine D istemper, H epatitis, P arvovirus, and P arainfluenza): Recommended for all dogs to prevent these potentially fatal communicable diseases. In particular, parvovirus can live for up to two years in the environment and can cause fatal gastroenteritis.
Feline Retro Virus Treatment
FeLV (Feline Leukemia Virus): This vaccine protects against the feline leukemia virus that can be transmitted between cats through bodily fluid exchange (i.e. cat bites/scratches, mating, mutual grooming). It is a fatal disease.
Ear Infection Treatment
In addition to blood work, our in- house laboratory allows us to analyze various samples under the microscope, checking for skin issues, ear infections and growths(masses) just to name a few. We also have several specialty laboratories that we send samples to depending on the diagnostic need.

Annual lab work is recommended as a precaution to detect early disease in your dog (i.e. kidney disease, liver disease, diabetes, thyroid disease, etc.) prior to your pet showing any signs or symptoms. Even dogs that appear happy and healthy can have hidden medical problems that might become serious, even life-threatening, if left undetected. Blood and urine tests may help identify diseases at the earliest most treatable stage possible.
Heart Disease Treatment
Heartworm disease is a serious and potentially fatal disease in pets. It is caused by foot long worms (heartworms) that live in the heart, lungs and associated blood vessels of affected pets, causing severe lung disease, heart failure and damage to other organs in the body. Heartworm disease is carried by mosquitoes and affects not only dogs, cats and ferrets, but also can be in other mammal species, including wolves, coyotes, foxes, sea lions and—in rare instances—humans.

Periodontal Disease Treatment
During the annual exam, your veterinarian will do an oral exam to check your dog’s mouth for disease or abnormalities. Oral disease is common and results in bad breath, painful gum and tooth infection. In advanced cases, dental disease may compromise your dog’s overall health. We recommend daily tooth brushing, oral dental treats and professional cleanings to treat and prevent periodontal disease.

You’ll be part of a team that helps patients receive preventative care and you’ll treat patients that are sick, injured and need help. You’ll assist the doctors in our surgery suite, you’ll manage and monitor anesthesia to keep our pets comfortable and safe, you’ll perform dental teeth cleanings, full mouth x-rays and you’ll learn how to perform oral surgery. You’ll use our in-house lab equipment so we can obtain fast, accurate results and you’ll assist with ultrasounds and perform other medical procedures to care for our patients.

It is Arden Animal Hospital's recommendation that your senior pets be routinely examined by a veterinarian twice a year to keep them healthy and to detect problems early on and before they become difficult and costly to treat.
