Texas Roast

I had printed a coupon for a buy one get one free coffee and took a friend to check this place out. Upon walking in I handed a young female employee the coupon and she asked another employee (mgt role, I assume) how to ring it up. The manager grumbled that it was probably expired, but the employee scanned the coupon and told her it was not. I asked for a coffee menu and she said they don't have one (odd for a place that specializes in coffees), but she kindly rattled off a list of coffees. I could still hear the mgr grumbling something under her breath. We decided on a caramel latte and advised the sweet young girl behind the counter. At that point, here comes "no clue on how to run a business" mgr again asking to look at the coupon because she thought it must be a coupon for the nearby "pour your own" coffee, not any "specialized coffee". After feeling unwelcome with our coupon, we thanked the employees and proceeded to leave and walk across to the 7-11 for their .99 :any size" coffee and was greeted and thanked for our purchase. It's no secret that businesses promote these "buy one, get one free coupons" to simply get people in the door of their establishment and proceed to win over guest with good service and product. I praise the young lady for attempting to do her job while being hindered by a mgr that has no interest in the well fare of the business. I had dined at this building before it became Texas Roast and was shocked to see such a dull, dirty appearance. The prior restaurant had taken pride in the appearance. All in all, Texas Roast is a joke. Maybe they have good coffee, but the staff was not at all interested in gaining my business or making a good first impression. Not typical of your mom and pop places in Rockwall that I admire. I will continue to go to Starbucks which is 1/2 mile down the street on Hwy 66 and get great coffee with happy to help you, smiling service! They have a drive thru also.
