Blue Lotus Tattoo & Body Piercing

Keep in mind that this review is for ONE ARTIST! His name his Rob who apparently is the owner and by the way he treated my friend and I, he should be ashamed of himself.

I've been tattooed there many times with my friends when they have gotten their ink and I have gotten a few tattoos there myself. Some of the artists have become very good friends of mine and the staff, when I have been there, has been at ease and knowledgable. All of those times I have felt comfortable and it has always been an experience that I look forward to. This last time (2/2013) was completely different. This guy Rob was working at a station next to me and as I was talking during my tattoo to my friend to keep my mind off of the pain, he kept interrupting us to make a rude comments that were completely uncalled for. The staff was even surprised at some of the things that he said. They all seemed to be on edge and I was glad to get out of there, his energy was just negative. Not something you want when you're getting a tattoo. After we left he had the nerve to continue to make rude comments about my friend and I, little did he know that one of my very good friends was waiting to be tattooed. While I love the staff, minus this guy, it will be extremely difficult for me to go back there because of the way that I was treated. I cannot support a small business with an owner as pretentious, heinous and rude as he is.

I have been to Blue Lotus a couple times now. I went about six years ago when Rich was working there (now at Ultimate Arts) and he did a nautical star back piece on me that turned out fantastic and still is years later. I went a couple years ago to one of their newer artists who is still there (I won't name names), but I was rather unimpressed. The tattoo that he gave me was a large chaos star surrounded by black. The lines were blurry, not straight, and I had blow-out over about an inch of tattoo that was VERY obvious. He dug WAY too deep to the point that I bled for days had huge scabs, weeped both ink and plasma for days, and had lots of visible scarring. After a couple years it was really faded and looked like hell. Ultimately, I did not go back to him for touch-ups as I did not trust his work. I finally went to Ultimate Arts and had Steve reink it and it looks fantastic. I know artists can have bad days and all, but I'm not going back to Blue Lotus.

Danny did a tragus piercing for me at the Gilman location. He did a fantastic job. He slowly talked me through the whole thing and made sure i was as comfortable as possible. The piercing looks great and on top of everything he was an amazingly nice guy. I'd recommend him to anyone.

Myke at Blue Lotus did 3 ear piercings for me. It was a very positive experience. Myke explained each step and was very gentle. These were cartilage piercings and they were virtually painless. Also, the shop is clean and staff very professional. I would definitely recommend Myke and Blue Lotus.

I recently went to The Blue Lotus on Gilman for my second tattoo. This was a great experience from beginning to end. Dana did my tattoo, and she did a fantastic job! My husband and I went in with some designs for her. She took those designs and tweaked them and came back with a beautiful design for me and did it that same night. She's a talented artist. I researched many Madison tattoo shops, and I'm happy I chose Blue Lotus. I thought the price was reasonable for what I had done.

I got just what I wanted for a reasonable price. what more could you ask for? Haley gave me exactly what I wanted, although I think she was kinda hitting on me but I would recomend her for sure!
