The hip is capable of supporting up to five times your body weight, which is why hip dislocation, fractures, and strains and tears of the soft tissue can be so painful. Trauma from falls, auto accidents, sports injuries, and overuse injuries are common causes of hip pain. For minor cases, rest, ice, compression, and elevation (RICE) are enough to correct the problem. Physical therapy, massage therapy, acupuncture, and a number of chiropractic techniques can help you recover from tendonitis and regain strength and flexibility, while nutritional protocols may be prescribed to reduce inflammation.
