Independence Place Fort Sill

I have been a resident of this apartment for 13 months. Comparatively, rent is high... excessively high, and that is why i am relocating upon the end of my current lease. The apartments were not clean upon moving in, I put in a work request for repair of a leaking garbage disposal three weeks ago, which still remains unrepaired. The administration is constantly changing, as if to suggest they are ubable to hire apt, qualified, quality managers. Same is true for the maintenance personnel, there are new faces monthly. The manager who is here currently would not likely be described as a people person as he is difficult to communicate with and lacks the accomodating personality needed when one's job is satisfying residents. At the bottom of my list of complaints is the lawn and pool maintenance. This concerns me the least as I am here only to sleep during my work week, but for the price of rent, it should CERTAINLY be better kept. Currently, the lawn has not been mowed for over four weeks, and the pool is always dirty with trash. Rent increased upon my 1 year mark, and the quality of the apartments has surely decreased.
The good include its location, it is close to conveniences, yet in a more quiet setting of Lawton, and there are a couple of police officers who live at and perform security of the apartments. If a good apartment manager could ARRIVE and STAY, and rent would decrease, it would be a nice place. Before one labels me as a negative nancy,check into the aprtments yourself.... I am a REALIST!!!

I lived in these apartments for 6 months, and I must say that there are WAY better options in Lawton to live at. The price is almost double what you would pay at any other apartment, but it is definitely not worth it.
I moved into a 3rd floor apartments. On top of the car ports, there were beer bottles and rotting food that was NEVER cleaned up in the 6 months I lived there. The maintenance people came into my apartment without any kind of notice, and without a work order, even though nothing was wrong. When I brought my complaints to the manager, he had a complete "I don't care attitude," and nothing was done. I've never met someone in his position that really seems to not care about what his residents say about his apartments. There are people that come into the apartment area that seem to be "dumpster diving." At one point, one of them approached me while i was cleaning out my truck, asking if he could have my ASU's that were hung up on the hanger. When I came to the management, they seemed not to care about the safety concern.
When I moved out, I gave them a notice, cleaned the carpets, etc. The lady assured me that everything was in order and I was good to go. Two months later, out of the blue, I got a threatening collection call from them saying I owed money for an additional month's rent, even though I had not even lived there during that month.

Stay away from these apartments!! They are nothing but a headache. They will be nice when you first walk in the door to get you in, but after that, it was very unprofessional, dirty, and not at all worth the amount that I paid.

When I moved to Lawton I did not have a place to stay and I found Independence Place. The consultants listened to my needs and put me in the a great furnished apartment. The complex has a great pool and vey nice work our room and business center. I would recommend the Independence Place to any looking for an corporate style apartment, it is very nice.

My husband and I were recommended to live here during the duration of his BOLC class by West Point. Before moving in we spent months preparing and completing the lease agreement with the front desk and requesting a non-furnished apartment. Upon moving in they had nothing ready for us, it took over 4 hours for us to get the keys to our apartment. They didn't have two sets of keys and after a few days of waiting for our second set they told us if we wanted it done we needed to do it ourselves. Needless to say customer service is terrible. The tanning bed didn't work for the first 2 months we lived here and the computer lab never has a working printer.

security is an issue here as many break-ins have happened and cars being vandalized. The head manager claims to know none of this. We have also found out that other BOLC students who moved in the same time we did received special discounts that we didn't. During the off seasons the pool appears to offer a health threat as they keep the water in the pool but refuse to clean it. Needless to say these apartments are WAY over priced for the service and what you are offered. Our apartment wasn't clean when we moved in and they didn't inform us that the one bedrooms don't have a pantry. There are much nicer apartments in Lawton for way less and MUCH better service.
