TBS of Tampa Bay AC & Refrig

I arranged for TBS of Tampa Bay to replace my HVAC in my house. By their own admission, they miswired the unit, causing my heat and AC to run at the same time, resulting in a very big electric bill. They agreed to compensate me, and then failed to do it. When I threatened legal action, the president told me it was really my fault after all, and threatened to countersue me for defamation, because after he failed to pay, I posted the story on his Facebook page. Furthermore, he said he had an attorney on retainer who wasn’t going to cost him a penny. I filed suit anyway, and found out that he had failed to pull a permit for the unit. HVAC contractors are required to pull a permit with the city building deparment. This would have required an inspector from the city to come out as well. After I reported them, an inspector came out and found 7 additional code violations. He also told me that the inspection would certainly have caught the original problem with the heat and AC. It took 5 additional hours of labor for the corrections to be done. He still ignored my requests to settle the case out of court. On the court date, he and his big bad attorney didn’t show up, and I was awarded a default judgment. (Hillsborough 13th Circuit Court, Case #13-19178). Needless to say, a request for post-judgment payment went unanswered.
