Walker Dental

I just have to write this review, because my experience here has been that every time I go they try to push me to have a procedure done for revenue generating purposes. During my first visit this past March, I was very clear to the dental hygienist at the start that I did not want x-rays done, as I had no pain / issues and try to limit exposure to x-rays for health reasons (see this article for reference: http://www.straight.com/life/409161/studies-link-dental-x-rays-brain-tumours-thyroid-cancer-and-low-birth-weight).





When I told her this, instead of respecting my views, the hygienist proceeded to pressure me into taking them, by saying how it appeared I might have bone loss on my teeth, and how it's absolutely necessary to take them each year. I ended up getting them done as a result, and guess what? There was nothing wrong.





During my second visit, the hygienist this time told me I absolutely had to get a deep cleaning. She told me again that she thought I might have bone loss. I declined this time, though again it was hard given the amount of pressure and fear-talking she put on me. Well, I returned to my hometown dentist three months later for a cleaning and check-up, and they saw absolutely nothing wrong.



I think this business needs to respect common business ethics. I get that dentists are compensated per procedure completed, and I think that's a horrible set of incentives that makes it all too easy to skew towards recommending extraneous procedures to naive patients. I am disgusted by the way they try to cram "advice" down your throat, and personally warn other students far away from this establishment.
