This struggling newspaper has been in Austin for over thirty years. It is the only news media in Austin that reports on the injustices and inequities that minorities encounter and endure living in Austin.
The editor often, also, serves as publisher, reporter, investigator, printer, delivery driver, etc. The newspaper is published with bare resources. Because he wears so many hats, there are sometimes glaring mistakes in some articles; however, they do not take away from understanding the point of the article. It is the only newspaper that strives to bring the black and brown community together by gathering and publishing newsworthy information about both communities. It strongly supports both brown and black citizens.
With the exception of reporting on crimes committed by blacks in Austin, the black community is virtually ignored by the local news media The brown community fares somewhat better with "local liberals" support of various topics on immigration.
This newspaper is an asset to the Austin community, it deserves the city's recognition and support.
