General Info
I am a 10 year veteran of the US Army. I’m also 72 years young. I’ve been singing since I was 4 years old. The first song I sang was “How much is that doggie in the window”. After my honorable discharge I returned to the U.S. from Germany. I’ve had a variety of jobs since then – I’ve worked on the railroad and managed a restaurant. Currently, I am a professional chauffeur in Southwest Michigan. Throughout my life, it’s been my dream to sing and touch people through my voice. I was set to record my original song, but health issues almost took my life. In 2009 I collapsed at the VA Hospital during a stress test, and ended up being told I needed open heart surgery. By the grace of God and the skill of the competent surgeons at the VA and the U of Michigan Hospitals, I survived. Again, in 2018 I had chest pains and the doctors placed stents in the native vessel of my heart. My doctors told me that I could not sing until I recovered. Throughout my life, it’s been my dream to sing. I’ve missed touching people through my voice . Recently, my doctors gave me permission to sing, and I want to achieve this dream. And I want my mother, who just turned 100 years old, to be there when I do. Lastly, when I was 8 years old, my father died in my arms. I have never forgotten what he told me with his last breath – “you’ll never be a loser, because your last name is Champion”.
