I had my best friend a chocolate lab Zeus euthanized on 11/24/2018. This place charged me $155 to give him a shot. I was extremely overcharged for a 15 minute service. They take advantage of people because they are the only place that is open on a Saturday at 6:00pm and don't care about anything but getting your money. They should not take advantage of people and charge such high rates, when people are distraught about having to put a pet down.

Took my cat in on Sat to be told that she was dehydrated and constipated, wanted to keep overnight. Gave fluids and enema's. Will not keep you up to date on charges, so you better ask. Don't call more then twice to check on your furbaby, they will get irritated with you. Couldn't tell me why her liver levels are high, just said constipation. Call me Monday, saying she's happy, eating and drinking, supposed to give oral meds for constipation and antibiotics. Get her home and she's hiding and drooling, get told she just needs to readjust to environment. As long as they get your money, they don't care, won't check up on pet. My girl still isn't eating and very little drinking, will be taking her back to my vet tomorrow, because this is not like my girl. Stay away if you can or find another emergency vet.

I would give less than one star if I could! I brought my dog here after he ingested food that was poisoned and left out for him. Immediately after he ate the piece of steak, he began having seizures. I rushed him to this emergency clinic and was told to wait. Of course I was in a panic and the rude receptionist took him from me and brought him into the back room and slammed the door in my face. After a few minutes, she came back out with my dog and told me he was stable and I would have to wait for the next available room! I get that this is an emergency clinic and there are people ahead of me, but there are different types of emergencies!! After waiting about 45 minutes I was brought into a room with Dr. Keith Frickey. He refused to give him anything to make him vomit the steak up and instead did blood work. He came back out and said he wanted to do an ultrasound of his liver and heart and I needed to see a doggie cardiologist. My dog just had his yearly physical and past with flying colors. He had no issues 2 weeks ago and suddenly needs these expensive tests? These were unnecessary and not needed. My dog had just ingested poison and this poor excuse for a doctor was only thinking of money! I ended up leaving the emergency vet since Dr. Frickey was useless! My dog seemed at little better but I brought him back into my vet the next morning. Unfortunately it was too late. His body had already begun to shut down and there was nothing my vet could do. So thank you Dr. Frickey, I lost my best friend because of your negligence and greed.

If there was a negative Star I would choose it!! My reason: They will hold your family baby (your pet) the only thing you have in this world and hold dear to your heart. They will hold her ransom if you don't pay them the full amount of money when you come to pick her up. EVEN... if you already manage to borrow from family and friends half the money 300.00 to even try to save her . so you give the all the money you can gather up at that time. you pay them 300.00 just to save your baby then when you return to pick her up they hold her ransom and threaten to call the SPCA and give her to them unless you pay them the remaining 300.00 bill. So compassion is not a word I would ever use for this place!!! If at all possible stir clear of them or you may not get you pet back.

I wish I would have read you all's reviews prior to sending my precious Fire Fox Red Labrador Retriever, "Leo" , to die in this hospital a little over 2 weeks ago!!! I brought my lab in due to traumatic bite wounds (severe ear bites, head, and neck especially). Given the poorest, most inhumane, negligent treatment I've seen in my life. If I could rate (-2 Stars), I would. Was rudely greeted by receptionist. No priority was given to his trauma. No vitals taken and no triage. Made to wait 1.5 hr prior to him being seen. Let's just say someone in the waiting room (who didn't reflect my African-American background) , complained about their dog being sick and nurse rushes out to take vitals. My dog was bleeding and I simply asked for a blanket, and nurse rolled her eyes at me in disgust as she handed it to me. Dr. Tracy Clark, the treating vet was extremely negligent. Gave options to irrigate and clean sutures with suture glue. Option 2 was to sedate and only rationale was (making scares looking better cosmetically.) NO iv pain meds were given, No iv antibiotics given. Discharged home and Leo was ambulatory. Hours later, he wouldn't eat and was lethargic. (Couldn't eat pills. No pain meds left with us.) Middle of night he cried out in deep pain. Yellow, putrid discharge came out. And I tried to get him to respond, move, set up and he was completely LIMP!! LIFELESS!! He collapsed like a slinky. Rushed to the ER again, as I knew hed never set foot in my home again. Dr. Fisher actually provided excellent care!! And did what Dr, Tracy Clark did NOT!! He was astonished and said she should've ordered X-Rays to determine severity of bite wounds and rule out bleeding. Also, said iv morphine and iv antibiotics should have been given. And open bite wounds should heal from inside out, instead of just sutured with glue. Ended up in full septic shock and died close to 2pm. Was thought he'd be hospitalized overnight. Dr. Carmichael read her "script" to me... Showed no compassion and lacked bedside manner. Next nurses asked me about euthanasia and cremation in 10 min. Had very little time to spend with him. Then nurse said, she'd make it "EASY" on me and let me complete the billing process so wouldn't have to stress about it,,... (ONLY roughly $1500). Easy for her to say.. All in all..A subhuman experience for a 3 year old precious red lab.

We had to use PEVC twice because they were the only ER vet that had the equipment we needed to test our boxer. The first visit was in February when our dog had arrhythmia and his throat closed up. He had surgery, and they kept us updated, called for check ins and changes. They also worked with our amazing cardiologist, Dr. Masionbacher. The second visit was yesterday, when Ace had an attack. They put him in oxygen and treated him like a human patient. They contacted Dr. Masionbacher, who came in today. Unfortunately, Ace's heart was too bad. They did not pressure us, but we knew we had to make a decision. They were beyond compassionate. Dr. Banks hugged me while I cried, and Dr. Carmichael let us keep Ace in the room, on his blanket, holding him. They gave us all the time we needed afterwards. Yes, they are upfront about costs and require a deposit (as do all er vets), but the care and compassion was amazing. It was the hardest day of my life, but their compassion helped.

If I could give this clinic 0 stars I would! I brought my year old Puggle into this clinic this morning because he had been vomiting the last couple days. They did X-rays and blood work and then called us back in the office. The vet said he needed to be hospitalized and estimated it at $1600!! We denied the services and our bill was still almost $700!!! They didn't give us any meds to take home or anything. We ended up taking him to Bay Beach veterinary hospital where they gave him outpatient care for $200! I never write reviews but this place is robbing people! Please don't come here!

Not a place I would recommend anyone taking their beloved pet or any other creature to. Was treated very rudely by reception as soon as I walked in. While filling out paperwork, a man brought a dog in that had two stitches he found that were supposed to have been removed. Called back later that day to check on the animal I had brought in and was told "unfortunately since you surrendered this animal to us (orphaned wild animal) we cannot tell you anything about it." If it were possible, I wouldn't even give them a HALF star.

Not a place I would go to for an emergency. We went here with our cat and Dr. Fisher didn't even examine him at all, he just assumed it was a bad heart and told us to go to a cardiologist and sent us on our way, even though our cat was barely breathing at that point, he never gave him oxygen and he never tested his oxygen levels, as it turns out, our cat had a normal healthy heart, but he was very ill, he had a turmor in his throat that was causing his mouth breathing., the tumor had blocked 99% of his airway!! Had Dr Fisher simply looked in our cats mouth he would have seen it, instead of assuming it was his heart without any further evaluation. We will not be going back. Instead we took our cat to The Cove in Suffolk and within 30 mins they figured out why our cat was so sick. Don't waste your time at this place or your precious money. Go straight to The Cove in Suffolk instead, the doctors there are amazing!

Terrible service

We arrived to the clinic at 6 am. We filled the paperwork out within five minutes, but weren't seen until my daughter physically knocked on the door. The doctor then said x rays needed to be performed and that it would take a few minutes. After 30 minutes she returned to say that she was sending the X-rays off to be read. My daughter and I did not see her again for the remainder of the visit. We left the clinic at 736 am. The assistants did not check on my dog at all unless, yet again, we knocked on the door. At 727 am we had to go to another clinic because my dog had yet to be cared for, the staff was extremely rude and unprofessional, and no one was communicating a viable solution to cure my dog. The "emergency clinic" was HORRIBLE we believed that my dog was choking/swallowed an object therefore was gagging. My dog was in pain, coughing/sneezing, and suffering but never got any care. Furthermore, when we expressed our displeasure we were kicked out and blatantly disrespected by Ariana (receptionist). You all clearly are incompetent and show little efficiency and empathy for the pets and owners. I will never return here again.

They don't allow bad reviews here-will not take,I tried several times to tell what a horrible doctor,dr Keith frickey is.My cat was ill with serious health issues, and he badgered us over and over to put her to sleep.Only alternative was a 1,500.00 deposit for transfusion. He said, while we were right outside the door to her room, maybe 2 seconds at most away, that she had a seizure and had given the "death cry". We rushed in,and she was clearly not as he said. She only cried when he came near her.He said she was suffering.I saw no such thing, and he changed it to being in discomfort.I told him there was a big difference. My family and I could not seem to talk by ourselves, and had to whisper together. He was extremely crass. We authorized the transfusion(ended up paying 1,800.00), and 2 hours later he wanted to put her to sleep again. He said he wanted her to leave there,so she did.She had crust in the corner of her eyes, and cat food bits in her head fur and whiskers as they did not even wipe her face.I carried her out in my arms, and took her to another emergency vet.We got a good last visit with her,due to not listening to dr.frickey.The transfusion helped, but only short term,as she was not making her own blood.I am sorry she had to spend any time at PEVC.Someone's dog was in the most horrible pain I have ever heard while we were there.I don't know who's dog,but if yours was there last week for an operation, you should know the terrible sounds of pain we heard.I have had dogs before who had an operation, and they had pain meds and never made sounds like that. And to the nurse who complained about my cat's body fluids on your top,we heard you.You work in life and death and sickness,so grow up and be polite to your well paying customers. You have lost this one as I will never come back.Nor will anyone I can inform.Too bad I had to put five stars to leave a review here as they will not accept a bad review. That's not an honest thing to do you know.

My cat Moe unfortunately had to be put down, and the staff, and especially the vet was very compassionate to both my cats needs as well as my needs. It was a very difficult decision, however if it had to be done I'm glad it was donr there.

The Right Kind of Place.

I took my puppy there around 10 at night. He had been bit by another dog and a piece of his ear was off and the rest of his ear looked pretty bad. Right from the start, the staff there were amazing. The receptionist was caring, helpful, and informative. Dr. McKendry was the vet that night. I can't say enough about her. She did an amazing job with our pups ear. We were very worried when we brought him in and she really made us feel confident that our dog would get not only a skilled doctor, but a caring doctor. I've called there since to get some information and pictures taken (the other dogs owner won't do what's right) and they have been just as awesome. Very caring and competent staff.
