Woodstock Building Supply Corp

I've been getting lumber and hardware from Woodstock Lumber for a few years and, until Monday November 1, 2021, I've had only super pleasant experiences with them. That changed profoundly on this date, when the young man sent to deliver a small batch of plywood showed up at my house, refused to offload the sheets where I designated, was from the beginning confrontational, belligerent, and physically threatening. I was standing in front of my garage indicating where I wanted the material, and because he apparently didn't like the way I indicated my preference (I said "just back out up right here), got out of the truck and walked 25 feet to tell me to back off. I was in my driveway, ten feet from my house. He refused to place the material where I asked and continued to be belligerent and confrontational. I attempted them to call the office and could not get through. I finally removed the first sheet and placed it where I wanted it, at which point he asked if I wanted "help". Having paid $50 to deliver have five sheets of plywood delivered, I told him he could offload the rest.

In 40 plus years of taking in the neighborhood of 1000 or so material deliveries, I have never had a confrontation with a delivery person. Woodstock isn't the closest or least expensive lumber source for me, and I had been going there because it was always pleasant, and even fun. If belligerent, abusive, and physically threatening is now tolerated in their employees, I'll not set for there again.

I'm writing this having attempted multiple times to contact Chris at Woodstock Lumber to resolve this issue, or at least make my concern heard. I left a voice message on one attempt, and on another I was told, by Abdul (the delivery person), that Chris was "indisposed."

This is a disheartening review to write. There are far too few great suppliers around, and now it seems there is one fewer.

I must be one of their earliest customers - I remember going there with my father at age 5, 67 years ago to buy Portland cement, and, that a 94 pound bag was less than $1.00 at the time. Later, I became a building contractor and Woodstock Building Supply has been a great business to work with. It's owned by the Neher family, and always helpful and courteous. Unlike Home Depot, they carry high quality items such as hardwoods that are most important for doing fine work.

prices are comparable to Home Depot and the lumber selection is far better. I am building a tiny house and I'm happy to be giving my money to a locally owed company than HD for a better price and higher quality product.

Wdtsk Building Supply - great place - great service (unlike, say, Home Depot, etc. ) all the guys who work there know how to build.

Information about hours is incorrect: Saturdays they're open from 7:30 a.m. until 12 noon.
