County of Yolo Health Department is responsible for protecting and improving the health of residents of Yolo County in California, and assuring that quality health services are available and accessible. Its staff consists of physicians, public health nurses, microbiologists, environmental health specialists, epidemiologists, certified health educators, and a variety of community health representatives. The organization provides public health services for all residents of the county, which include detection and prevention of communicable diseases, health education, immunizations, and registration of births and deaths. It also supports and monitors special programs for families with children and senior citizens with special health needs. The department s environmental health services include rabies control, inspections of food preparation outlets, private housing and public institutions and water supplies.
