The Snob Shop

Recently moved to WS, as we've all experienced in relocating we want to downsize, esp if lifestyle has changed. Looking for a high end consignment store locally, I was attracted to this store. Actually impulsively visited the store...bought asomething interesting within 5 minutes. Thought about consigning some very expensive, worn once items...thank you for your reviews, it's important that we share info & experiences. There has been much said in the reviews I've read that I could ignore & still consider doing business with Snob.

But, I can list my own things on EBay!!!

Ridiculous store with ridiculous ownership. The owner is highly rude and snotty. The Snob Shop lives up to the name with arrogant words, rude gestures, and a system for "donating" clothes that is unethical. Do not take your clothes or accessories or anything to sell; and do not shop there unless you want to be treated like the new kid at a silly country club that's becoming rundown and not the place to be any longer. The manager was very nice, and most of the employees were cordial, but stay away from the owner. As a matter of fact, don't even spend your money there because you're feeding that rude woman. As the other reviews have previously stated, it is the dark haired woman with the apron on that thinks she is too good for anyone. This place rubbed me wrong, always has, and it will rub you wrong. Note, I have been there many times to justify my stance (fact). I went there many times to give it more chances and to hope to purchase something without seeing her. Then after I said I would never go back, a few more times I have gone with friends who were driving. It's still the same - a ridiculous place to spend your money. I will go elsewhere. You should, too. Thank you.

Yesterday my mother, mother-in-law and I visited the shop and bought several items. I am new to the Winston-Salem area and was very excited to see such a nice shop with wonderful items. I commented that I'd finally found a great shop. I couldn't have been more wrong.



My pleasant shopping experience ended abruptly at the check-out counter. First of all, I had to ask for a bag for the merchandise that I bought. No big deal really, just figured the elderly lady working there forgot. THEN the younger, dark-haired woman came over. I asked her what the business was a few doors down because I couldn't figure out what it was. She looked at me, smirked very snobby, then said, "Why you askin' me??!!" So much for southern hospitality huh?



I couldn't believe how rude she was! I immediately snapped back with, "Well because you WORK here." She said nothing more and we left. If we hadn't already made our purchases, we would have walked out. We will never go back again.



The thing this lady needs to realize is that with the Internet, actions such as hers can be posted for EVERYONE to read. It is my hope that she reads this post and stops herself the next time she feels the need to lash out at a customer for no good reason.



BTW - we went to a consignment shop around the corner and told that clerk about our experience. She was shocked and commented that she has referred customers to that shop. Maybe she won't anymore.



So....to the lady with the dark hair who was wearing the cute apron at Snob Consignment, PLEASE remember to treat people with respect. You never know what your customers are going through at the time, and maybe a kind word from you would make them smile.
