Happy Munchkins

When I walked in there were about 5-7 heavily active kids and a little rough bouncing around in such a small living room sized space. "How would my barely sitting up unassisted infant be in this environment? Would she be safe and monitored?" The answer to the latter would be probably not based on the context of the rest of the meeting.

The staff member I spoke with asked if my 5 month old was on solids, I mentioned that I had been interested in the philosophy of baby led weaning and that was a trigger it seemed. She callously cut me off to say: "This isn't the place for you. My babies are feeding themselves by 10 months." Which, independence is cool, so as I tried to let her know that BLW wasn't something I was ride-or-die passionate about and could be flexible - she just switched to an entirely aggressive demeanor.

When she asked about her napping, I told her they're short cat naps of 20-30 minutes at times (since she's going through a mental leap with a longer 1-2 hour nap in the afternoon, plus she sleeps through the night from 930pm-730am) she again cut me off with a disapproving look to crassly ask if my pediatrician "talked to me about that" because she wasn't napping enough. Before I could even say anything about the influence of the leaps or how her napping schedule fluctuates, she cut our interview and said "I'm just gunna be honest, this isn't the place for you."

It seems they wanted an infant who could feed themselves and nap for most of their time so the staff could take a hands-off approach. Either way, her demeanor was incredibly rude. I could barely answer any of her questions before she cut me off and practically threw me out. It was seriously baffling and felt very much like a personal attack (this could just be my first time mom sensitivity.) I just wouldn't recommend this place to anyone based on how I was treated; pretty much belittled and demeaned. There was zero attempt at understanding, patience or even listening.

I am eternally grateful that we stumbled upon this daycare. I had researched what seemed to be a thousand daycares and then we finally found happy Munchkins! The owner and staff are absolutely spectacular. They are hand picked with care and well screened! There are several daycares that can care for children, but at Happy Muchkins loves, truly loves their children. My daughter was safe, educated, loved and above all, well cared for. For me, I was super nervous about leaving my 12 week old in the hands of strangers. Happy Munchkins gave me peace of mind that my daughter wa safe and happy. I can repay them for all they have done and I will forever cherish Kendall's time there. we definitely have one happy munchkins who will miss this daycare!
