When TCI decided to move into the Esplanade office complex in Downers Grove, their challenge was to convert a vacated office into their new home that would be rich and sophisticated. Once passing through the glass entry doors, the granite and mahogany lobby welcomes new and existing clients into the warm office environment. Detail and craftsmanship is evident throughout, but specifically the wood trim and tray ceilings that highlight the boardroom and the custom bookshelves and fireplace that are featured in the library.

New Construction
Mazur+Son is one of the older, more stable construction firms in the Chicagoland area. Established in 1946 and spanning three generations of family management, the company offers a full range of construction services, including construction management and general contracting for commercial and institutional projects.

Residential Roof Repair
St. Gerald Parish sought to renovate their existing church to create a bright and welcoming worship space for their parishioners. The challenge of this project was the re-orientation of the church, bringing the congregation closer to the altar. The goals of the project were to reconfigure the seating and bring in additional natural light to the nave space, all on a limited budget. The altar was relocated to the building’s north elevation. Roofing structure was removed and two small additions were constructed to emphasize the altar area and create new window openings.

Carpentry
David has been with Mazur+Son since 1970. He has truly worked his way up the ladder, starting as a laborer, moving up to a carpenter, foreman, and eventually superintendent. Dave is responsible for all on site coordination including all scheduling, safety, and quality control. He is a hands-on guy with carpentry, electrical and mechanical installation experience. Dave maintains communication with the client on a daily basis. In addition to being involved with his three children, he now enjoys time with his two grandchildren.
Masonry
The Garfield Ridge neighborhood was in need of a new public library. After numerous community meetings, the design team was commissioned to produce a building that would be unique and serve as an asset to the community. The 10,000 square foot building was constructed on a tight site that extends along busy Archer Avenue. Sequencing the structural steel and the masonry was made challenging due to the limited staging areas available. The building features clerestory windows that flood the interior with natural light as well as high ceilings to create a light, airy atmosphere.
