Prairie School of DuPage

I dont know where to begin. My 8 yr old started going to that school this year and I have never seen him so excited to go to school. At the end of the day, the kids don't want to leave. The environment is nurturing and fun. They cover singapore math, which is known to be the most successful math program. The school also incorporates foreign language studies, yoga, art, science with plenty of field studies to reinforce ideas - such as keeping a garden, studying wetlands, ....and the kids are allowed to move about the classroom to get their studies done, which has helped my son immensely. This school has been a major game changer for our son and us, the parents. Educators come from all over to learn about this successful, hands-on method of teaching.

Our family is blessed to have this school as an option in our area. I am always blown away by how much the teachers and staff care for the children at this school. My kids have blossomed socially and academically in this past year. They are both respected and challenged. The small student to teacher ratio makes it possible for the teachers to bring the best out of every child. I love that the kids spend time outdoors every day while learning and also for playing during recess, even my middle school aged son who would not get recess at public school. The teachers integrate art in to many projects and subjects which is wonderful for hands-on learners but they also learn a foreign language, and music. Both of my children have developed a love for nature through learning about it daily and also being able to explore it during recess. nature is a huge part of the classroom and I love that. You have to see this school to see how great it is. For parents who interested I would highly recommend visiting for a tour.

The Praire School of DuPage is an independent K-8 school in Wheaton, Il that offers a place-based education in an intimate classroom setting. The teacher to student ratio is 10/1 giving the children the best possible opportunity to grow, learn and discover their gifts and talents. It is set on 46 acres that the children explore everyday. In addition to traditional academics art, music, yoga, foreign language, outdoor and environmental education are all important aspects in the daily life of a Prairie School student.
