If I could give less than one star I could. A conversation between DR V and my wife ended my marriage. They are not qualified to make those assessments in a short period of time. I was depressed and they kept me as long as my insurance covered my stay-- reminded me of that horrible movie--'Girl Interupted"--dark, dirty and very little interaction. Similar to prison! Do Not Go!!

Great staff, great place for healing

This was my first time inpatient and I was SCARED. I needn't have been. I was treated with respect and dignity throughout my stay.

I was deeply impressed by the staff; I was on the RIU in the Cedar building (the unit for less severe disorders) and there were two RNs on the unit 24/7. At most there were 14 people on my unit. Sometimes they also had a behavioral health tech, but we rarely interacted with them. The RNs were so nice and accommodating; they know it's scary and that people don't want to be there, and they do their best to make it as painless as possible. One RN in particular, Jennifer, was really amazing. I had a million questions about how groups worked, if I could get something for my headache, how to use the phones, and whatever else you can think of. I'd frequently say "I'm sorry, I know I've got so many questions" and she'd always assure me it was no problem, and she genuinely meant it. At one point she asked if she could sit down with me to hear my story. The fact that she was interested in getting to know a bit about me (other than my psychiatric history and diagnoses) was amazing. We talked for a good 40 minutes and she offered to be a listening ear if I ever needed one. When I got discharged I cried because I was afraid to be alone with my thoughts (bad depression), but she assured me I'd be fine. She and all the other nurses really went out of their way to make us feel like we were ordinary people who just needed a little extra help. I never felt broken or useless or like I was a burden. I would HIGHLY recommend this facility to anyone struggling with mental health issues. Everyone was compassionate and kind (and the food is actually pretty good)! I'm not going to say I necessarily enjoyed my stay (no one really likes psych wards per se, I'm wiling to bet), but I am so, so glad I was there. If I ever find myself in need again, I'm not going anywhere else.

While good care was delivered, we received a bill from a collections agency 3 years after the occurrence. We were NEVER alerted to this prior to it going to collections, which cost us a large amount in interest. Not cool!!

West Pines has the most caring...

West Pines has the most caring and compassionate staff in all of Colorado. They truly care about their patients as people. They go out of their way to ensure that all patient needs are met. The nurses often stop to just chat with patients. The doctors are top notch and never seemed too rushed to speak to you. The case managers help to link the patient's home into treatment. I hope to never need this type of service again. But if I do, I know that all of my needs will be met.
