The Westport Police Department provides law enforcement and crime prevention services. The department intervenes in cases of theft, robbery, burglary, sexual assault, serious crime, domestic violence and narcotics trafficking. It responds to emergency and nonemergency calls for service. The Westport Police Department operates detective, marine, public safety, animal control and youth services divisions. It has a records division that processes and manages records, clearance letters and reports, and arrest and search warrants. The department conducts investigations, gathers evidence, and interviews suspects, victims and witnesses. In addition, it organizes safety-related training sessions for the general public. The Westport Police Department is headquartered in Westport, Conn.
