Westport Volunteer Emergency Medical Service is a volunteer organization that provides staffing for the ambulance service in the shoreline community of Westport, Conn. Its volunteer teams work as part of the Westport Police Department. The organization comprised of people from all walks of life, including retireeS, businessmen, attorneys, health care professionals, retail employees, homemakers and college students. In its fleet, it has several advanced life support ambulances, a paramedic fly car, emergency response vehicles and a mass casualty incident support trailer. The association also recruits volunteers for its community services. In addition, Westport Volunteer Emergency Medical Service provides certified and noncertified cardiopulmonary resuscitation training courses under the American Heart Association guidelines.
