Fillings
Resin Composite
If you are receiving a tooth-colored or composite resin filling, it may take several more steps. Resins are usually applied in layers, and each layer is hardened using a special light. When the multilayering process is completed, the dentist will shape the composite material to the desired result, trim off any excess material, and polish the final restoration.
Veneers
Porcelain veneers are thin, custom-made shells of tooth-colored material designed to cover the front surface of teeth. When bonding teeth, the dentist applies a tooth-colored resin that is then hardened with a special light to “bond” the material to the tooth.
Crowns
Dental crowns, sometimes called teeth caps, are placed over a tooth to cover it and restore its shape, size and strength and to improve its appearance. When it is cemented into place, the tooth crown encases the entire visible portion of a tooth that lies at and above the gum line.
Bridges
Bridges can last up to 15 years or longer. Their costs vary, but a portion of the cost is generally covered by dental insurance. Proper brushing and flossing around the supporting teeth will help maintain dental bridges.
Dental Bonding
Dental bonding is the application of a resin material to restore teeth. It can be used to repair tooth decay, repair chipped or cracked teeth, improve the appearance of discolored teeth, close spaces between teeth, change the shape of teeth or to protect the portion of a tooth’s root that’s been exposed by receding gums.

Root Canal Treatment
First Visit: During the first visit, the dentist will examine and prepare the tooth. If the tooth has extensive decay or if there is a risk of infection to the tooth’s pulp, a root canal might be required. The prepare for the tooth crown, the dentist numbs the tooth and gum around it then files the chewing surface and the sides to make room for the crown. After reshaping the tooth, the dentist will use paste or putty to make an impression of the tooth. The impression is sent to a lab that will make the permanent crown. Before you leave the first visit, the dentist will insert a temporary crown to cover the exposed tooth.
