I went to the ER at HF West Bloomfield and was treated like a piece of crap. Sat in the lobby for two and a half hours before going to triage. After triage I was sent back to the lobby for another hour. Mind you my reason for the visit was due to a cellulitis infection in my legs which also have chronic ulcer’s due to Lymphedema. My legs were draining profusely all over the floor and I couldn’t even get someone to call a janitor to help clean it up. Mind you I’m a diabetic which complicates my situation. Once they called me to go back behind closed doors to be seen by a doctor I was, to my astonishment, placed on a gurney in the hallway. I’m forced to go to the hospital at least four times a year for these wounds due to infections but I have never been put in a hallway on a broken bed right in front of a empty examination room. After sitting there for about 30 minutes my pain level was off the charts. They keep telling me that I couldn’t get anything for the pain until I was seen by the Doctor. After I started asking to see a patient advocate they put me in a examination room and gave me a norco for pain. After seeing the Doctor they admitted me to the nicest hospital room I’ve ever stayed in. The nurses were the best I’ve ever encountered
Except for one. The Doctors from the various specialties were very kind, understanding and professional. The testing was very intense. They left no stone unturned. The food was excellent and I really enjoyed my 50 inch flatscreen on the wall. All in all, I would go back but I understand that the difference between the ER staff and those up on the wards is like night and day. So if you’re considering going to this ER just keep in mind that it might not be a pleasant experience but the care you will receive if admitted will be top notch.

My fiance was taken to this ratchet hospital. This beautiful hospital is NOT good! They will throw you out before you are stable enough to go home. The NP's do a lot of the rounding and most are quite stupid and not knowledgeable. The RN's are nice, but the lead RN was quite stupid. I was told by NP Chrstine King that following major abdominal surgery a bowel movement or gas wasn't a concern. She also NEVER even listened for bowel sounds. I couldn't believe it when he had abdominal surgery one evening and they sent him home the next morning without having had gas or a bowel movement. We took him home and he had to return via ambulance the next night. He was vomiting and in excruciating pain & still hadn't had a bowel movement or gas. This time they kept him for 10 days following another abdominal surgery due to bowel obstruction. Had they kept him in the hospital another day this wouldn't have happen. I guess because he has that HAP they had to throw him out before he was stable. The next night while he was in ER his excruciating pain continued and they told us he would have to wait til he was taken to a room before they could give any pain medicine because they would have to pay the ER doc for ordering the pain medicine. So they definitely don't care about pain control. They did take him to a room quickly where the RN gave him pain meds. I advise everyone to stay away from this hospital! Especially if you have HAP. I encourage everyone to do as he did,he transferred to the St. John Providence system. And hasn't had a problem yet. Now Providence in a superior hospital and they are affiliated with God and taking care of Christians and even those who are unable to pay for care. Don't let HFH W. Bloomfield beautiful interior and exterior fool you! All the employees at Providence Southfield and Providence Park in Novi deserve a grade of A++++++++++. HF W.Bloomfield grade should be a D-/F. My fiance should not have had to suffer like this. He tells everyone who will listen about his experience.

I live in Farmington Hills, and had to call an ambulance, and they took me to this hospital-which is very close to my home... I have seen the hospital many times, but have never been... I went to the emergency room Feb 28th 2012, and saw a male nurse who asked for my insurance (Blue Cross), and what brought me there... I explained my situation, and was asked some questions about my health/past... Mind you; I was not in severe pain, but did have issue enough to warrant an ambulance ride... I have never called/used an ambulance in my whole life, and I am 49. The nurse told me to go to the bathroom, and I sat for over one hour, and never saw/spoke to one physician... I finally asked a nurse how long it would be before I laid eyes on a doctor, and she said " dont know"... I explained I didnt mind waiting, but if it was going to be 3-4 hours- I would leave... she said do not know- people are seen based on priority... I get that... if a man has a heart attack it should be first, but the lack of empathy, and not seeing one doctor at all is not acceptable for me. I left that day by car, and never saw a doctor, and am now scheduled for further testing. My advice: Unless you are literally dying- do not go there.
