What is a Chemical Peel?
Chemical peels are good for all skin types from sensitive to problematic. These peels chemically exfoliate the skin by using acids such as, alpha hydroxy acids and beta hydroxy acids to accelerate cell renewal, stimulating collagen and improving elastin fibers in the dermis. Peels can help improve acne scarring, fine lines, sun damage or pigmentation, and help produce smoother, more even-toned skin. Chemical peels help break up the bonds that hold together the aged and sloughing skin cells that mask the fresher, younger skin. Peels leave your skin hydrated and glowing. For the best results, a chemical peel can be combined with microdermabrasion and intense pulsed light to reveal youthful, brilliant skin.
How is a Chemical Peel Performed?
First, your skin will be thoroughly cleansed. Your peel will then be applied to the skin in layers. The fine layers are allowed to slowly penetrate into the skin, causing a slight tingling sensation. The entire process takes anywhere from 15-30 minutes. The skin may have some immediate redness and then may flake or peel over the next several days, revealing younger, fresher looking skin.

What Should I Do Before And After My Peel?

Before Your Chemical Peel

No Alpha hydroxy products or retinoids such as Retin A or Renova, or any products containing acids for 7 days prior to your peel.
No sun exposure for 10 days prior to your peel.
No tanning for 2-3 weeks prior to your peel.
Avoid all electrolysis, waxing, depilatory, laser, or IPL treatments for 14 days prior to your peel.
No collagen, Restylane®, or Botox® for 7 days prior to your peel.

After Your Chemical Peel

Avoid water on the treated areas for 24 hours after your peel.
Use a sunscreen with SPF 20-45 with zinc or titanium oxide daily for at least two weeks.
No tanning for 2-3 weeks after your peel.
You may experience varying degrees of peeling. Do not use an exfoliant for at least 7 days.
Do not pick at any areas of blistering or crusting.
You can expect redness that could last up to two days.

How Does It Work?
IPL and 1064 Laser makes hair reduction possible by targeting the hair follicle with light energy. This energy disables the follicle, preventing it from producing hair. The energy is attracted to the dark pigment at the base of the follicle.
How Many Treatments Does It Take?
Hair grows in three different phases: anagen (active growth phase), catagen (regression phase when the majority of growth has stopped), and telogen (resting phase when the hair is being shed in preparation for new hair growth). As with any type of light-based hair reduction (such as laser or IPL), the treatment is only effective during the anagen phase. At any given time, only a certain percentage of hair follicles are in this active growth phase. Therefore, the treatment will requires several procedures done about 6 weeks apart to be most effective.
Does It Hurt?
IPL and 1064 Laser is very tolerable. Our systems have the newest in Pulsed Light and Laser technology. They have self-cooling tips that protect the surrounding skin while allowing the light to penetrate to the hair follicle. The procedure feels like the snap of a rubber band on the skin.
How Long Does a Treatment Take?
IPL and 1064 Laser are very efficient. The length of a procedure is obviously variable depending upon the size of the area being treated. In general, it will take about 15-60 minutes for your treatment from start to finish.
How Does IPL Differ From Laser?
Both IPL and Laser hair reduction work by the same principle. They both shoot light energy into the hair follicle. Laser emits only a single wavelength of light and uses a small circle of light per pulse. IPL emits a spectrum of wavelengths and uses a larger area per pulse. Based on your hair removal needs, we will select the system that is right for you!

How Does It Work?
Our non-invasive laser pulse will cause unwanted vessels to fade from view in a few treatments or less. Our lasers deliver concentrated in a specific wavelength to absorb a target, such as pigment, blood, or water. The light pulses heat the blood within the leg vein, which causes the vessel to constrict and eventually fade from view.
What Should I Expect?
Immediately after the treatment you will see any of these possible outcomes: The vessel will disappear, The vessel will darken, The vessel will shrink. The surrounding area of the skin may turn pink and be slight swollen for up to 24 hours. Often more than one treatment is necessary to achieve full clearance of leg veins.

What Is Microdermabrasion?
Below the outermost layer of dead, sloughing skin cells lies a fresher looking face. Microdermabrasion is a skin resurfacing technique that uses gentle abrasion and suction to remove the outermost, dead layer of skin cells called the stratum corneum. At Derma Skin Care Clinic, we use the newest, crystal-free microderm technology. Our diamond embedded wand gently exfoliates the topmost layer of skin, while the vacuum removes dead skin cells and debris. By removing this layer of aged, dead skin cells, you are unveiling smoother, more radiant, youthful looking skin.
How Is Microdermabrasion Performed?
Microdermabrasion typically takes only 1/2 hour, and can be done on your lunch break. Your skin will be thoroughly cleansed and then our medical esthetician will pass the diamond embedded handpiece across your face, gently wiping away oil, dead skin cells, and other impurities. There is no "down time" with microdermabrasion. You may experience slight redness. You will experience the best results with a series of treatments. For optimal results, you can combine microdermabrasion with chemical peels and intense pulsed light. We offer a micro/peel where a microdermabrasion is done to prepare the skin for a chemical peel the same day!

How Does It Work?

How Does It Work?
