General Info
In 1914 and 1924, F. Harold Dubord and Harold C. Marden opened their doors to separate law practices in Waterville, Maine. For the next quarter century, these two Central Maine attorneys, along with their associates, provided exceptional legal counsel to the citizens of this region. Their careers followed similar paths: both served as Mayor of Waterville and held countless other governmental and civic positions; both had the pleasure of welcoming a son to join and later assume their law practices; both became Justices of Maine's Superior Court; and both capped their outstanding legal careers by being elevated to Maine's Supreme Judicial Court where they served with distinction for many years. The law firm of Marden, Dubord, Bernier & Stevens owes its existence to the parallel paths of these gentlemen and, more recently, to their sons, Richard J. Dubord and Robert A. Marden, who, in 1964, blended two diverse and highly successful law practices into one cohesive law partnership. Although time has welcomed new members to the firm and witnessed others depart to accept judicial appointments and enjoy retirement, Marden, Dubord, Bernier & Stevens remains a vibrant partnership which continues to provide statewide legal representation to clients from Maine, the United States, Canada, and abroad. The primary goal of this firm is client satisfaction. We achieve this by providing our clients with prompt, professional legal services that are fairly priced. We maintain a client base that spans generations. The following is a sampling of the extra steps we take -- toward client satisfaction -- and away from the traditional distance between attorney and client : Focus on and regularly update our client communications. Return all phone calls in minimum time. Offer firm-wide consistency in correspondence and billing transactions. Correspond daily via e-mail. Renovate and decorate offices to accommodate clients, making visits comfortable and relaxing. Mission To serve our clients with diligence, courtesy, and good judgment. To encourage professional growth and quality of life for our employees. To seek the common good through community leadership and the spirit of public service. The Team Our team of talented and friendly employees offers the additional benefits of expertise and exceptional client service. Each member of the firm demonstrates a personal interest in the satisfaction of each client, with a continuous eye on quality control. Our theme of "Helping People" is integrated into everything we do. Clients enjoy the unique advantage of well-informed paralegal and administrative staff members who are knowledgeable about client matters and always available to help. Employee turnover is extremely low at Marden, Dubord, Bernier & Stevens. Some of our loyal employees have been with us for over 20 years. Clients appreciate the added value of administrative personnel who know them by name and personal interests. Because our capable and personable staff serves people in a relaxed professional atmosphere, we see generations of family members over the years. The Matter of Courtesy The dominant response from our client surveys reflects that clients feel our expertise, education, and experience is exceeded only by our courtesy and honesty. We uphold these principals in everything we do. The Responsive Firm Clients at Marden, Dubord, Bernier & Stevens know that their phone calls and inquires are important to us. With a constantly renewed focus on maintaining outstanding client relationships, we focus on returning all phone calls in a timely manner. Time management techniques are discussed and instituted at many levels within the infrastructure of our firm. We feel this gives us the edge on the many law firms whose Partners and Personnel may neglect to follow up on client questions and concerns. This is one of the examples of why HELPING PEOPLE IS OUR BUSINESS
