I had a breakdown away from home and the mechanic I usually deal with. This being a NAPA affiliated shop, I took a chance and had my 2003 Sable towed to O,Neills. When I called to get an idea of what was found , I was told it was an ignition coil, and would require about 2 hours of labor with the whole job costing about $480. I thought it was high but being stuck over 20 miles from home and already missing a day,s work, I paid the bill. The next day I began to research the parts cost on NAPA''S web page The ignition coil I was billed $160 for retailed for $88.20 and the spark plugs that cost me $9.79/ea retailed for $6.99. His 2 hours of labor extended out to $114/hr. When I called the garage to inquire about the bill, I was told that the coil cost him $109, and he was entitled to a markup of 40%. The math shows his markup to be higher than 40% and I am to believe that a franchised garage would pay over $20 more for a part from NAPA than a retail customer would. When I asked why a top of the line non NAPA coil was chosen rather than a less expensive NAPA brand, I was told that the NAPA product was inferior, and prone to fail in less than a year. It was also pointed out that if I didn't like the quote, I could have just had my car towed somewhere else instead of agreeing to allow him to repair it. All in all, I was left with a feeling of being swindled.

No one wants to have their car breakdown but if it happens, O'Neill's is the best place for you to bring it. Chris and Tim are excellent mechanics and are very honest people. I wouldn't want anyone else to touch my vehicle. They've serviced my car since I bought it (almost 8 years ago). Definitely are great mechanics for us women, too. They treat you like you have a brain.
