I am new to RI and have been researching for a good vet in the area. Because I was a vet tech at the Boston Cat Hospital I am a bit picky. I am now an RN at a hospital in Boston and commute daily. My cats are a retired breeder Ragdoll I adopted and an adopted neutered male from the local animal shelter when I lived in MA.

I think what concerns me the most about your post is that you are obviously a pet owner that has his pet's best interest in mind by keeping to a prescribed diet. For an animal that is on such a diet to fall off because the local vet would not extend the prescription tells me that there is a monetary issue here. Surely it would not have been a big issue for the vet to allow you to purchase the prescription diet one more time (or to even given you a small supply) till you had your pet scheduled for an exam. Poor business practice as far as I can see; and also poor medical practice as for this pet to come off a prescribed diet d/t the described situation does not tell me that the vet had the best interest of the pet in mind.
