After earning his Bachelor's degree from Brigham Young University (1996) and his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry (2001), he decided to return to this beautiful area and serve the community where he grew up. He joined Walkersville Eyecare in 2004. Special interests include fitting contact lenses, co-managing LASIK, pediatrics, low vision, and patient education. Dr. Allgaier is married and has five amazing children. Favorite pastimes include spending time with his family, serving in his church, and training for half and full marathons.

Ophthalmologists

Glaucoma
The comprehensive exam begins with several pre-test measurements including auto-refraction, tonometry (which measures the pressure inside your eye and is an important indicator for diagnosing glaucoma), and the OptoMap ultra wide field retinal scan (to check for any retina problems). We can also assess your current glasses.
Macular Degeneration
Have you ever been told that, "This is the best we can do with glasses," and it's just not enough? If your vision can not be corrected to a functional level with standard glasses or contact lenses then you may be eligible for a low vision examination. Patients classified as "low vision" often have best-corrected acuity of 20/40 - 20/200 or worse. Common causes for this may include cataracts, macular degeneration, glaucoma, or a retinal detachment. During the exam the doctor will assess your vision, discuss your goals, and demonstrate various hand-held, spectacle, and digital magnifiers to make the most of your vision.
Laser Eye Surgery
The doctors at Walkersville Eyecare believe strongly in the benefits of LASIK, PRK, and other refractive surgery options. As such, we do pre-op and post-op care while co-managing with the best surgeons in the area. Want to know if you are a candidate?
