Overall

I love Wake Forest Chiropractic!

I love Wake Forest Chiropractic! Dr. Phelan got me out of pain when no one else could. He is very knowledgeable about all aspects of your healthcare and I trust him completely. The office is bright and inviting and the staff always has a smile on their face. I would recommend them (and have) to anyone who wants to be pain-free without medication!

LEG LENGTH DIFFERENCE!

I had been having pain in my low back for years when I was on my feet for any length of time. I went to Wake Forest Chiropractic and Dr. Phelan found a leg length difference that was causing my low back pain. I had a shoe lift put in all my shoes and now I can shop for hours! If I had gone undiagnosed, I could have ended up having knee replacement or hip replacement due to the wear and tear on those areas. Thanks so much Wake Forest Chiropractic!

Hello, I’m Doctor Shawn Phelan. Welcome to Wake Forest Chiropractic, and I’d like to give you a brief tour of our office. This is the lobby of our office, the reception area. In it we have a children’s room, which has toys to keep the children occupied while parents can be treated. It also has floor to ceiling windows, so that the staff can keep an eye on the children while they are in there. We have a full administrative office, which files your health insurance and tracks all the payment for you. Our staff works together very closely to make sure that your care is the best available, and also that your insurance coverage is properly managed. We have on-site radiology services, and a radiologist that works with us to make sure that your images are interpreted properly, even after the doctor has reviewed them. Not all of our patients undergo X-rays, there is a certain criteria, that is met in order for them to be ordered, but we do have it available if it’s necessary.We also offer physiotherapy, rehab therapy, and nutritional counseling, and a broad spectrum of nutritional supplements all from pharmaceutical grade labs, to include Metagenics, anabolic labs, and nutriwest, as well as Optimox.

Manipulation Therapy

Myofascial Therapy
Myofascial release is an intervention administered to various patients to alleviate pain or restrictive tissue problems. The release treatment usually involves the application of gentle or moderate pressure on the connective tissues and leads to relaxation and eventual elongation of the fascia therein. These restrictions are often caused by traumatic accidents or inflammations of the soft tissue. Some patients get them as an after-effect of surgery. They always result in muscular tension and spasm of sharp pain. They cannot be detected through standard diagnosis tests like the x-ray scan. It is essential for a patient to visit a doctor or physiotherapy expert once they notice restriction of movement in the hip area or shoulder. Painful backs can also be a sign of the restriction and can only be treated through the Myofascial Release procedures.

Pinched nerves or “radiculopathies” are a common complication of disc herniations or spinal stenosis in the cervical and lumbar spines. A disc herniation in the cervical spine can cause arm pain, while a disc herniation in the lumbar spine can cause leg pain or sciatica. Nerves can also be pinched or compressed peripherally in the musculature of the neck, low back or buttocks and cause similar symptoms that disc herniations or stenosis cause. If you have arm or leg pain you need a thorough examination to determine where and from what the nerve is being pinched.
