- AS I AM NOW 40 years OLD and 18 years a shoe store owner and operator veteran. Through trial and error I have finally came UP with the perfect formula of brands and concepts to offer MY customers the most rewarding shoe shopping experience. I DO MY best in life to BE a good. Honest MAN of principals and ethics and believe it has a great IMPACT and influence on the performance of MY business SILCOTT shoes. It was named after MY father William SILCOTT WHO worked himself to death AT the AGE of 43 AS a welder by trade and a side carpet cleaning business to give OUR Family a better life here in porter county. HE was OLD fashioned and hard on ME AS HIS only SON and molded ME into the MAN I AM today. Limping every step of the WAY HE never missed and a single baseball or basketball game and taught ME to never give UP and BE the best NO matter what. “ BE a leader NOT a follower “ HE said to ME always and instilled it in MY Memory. HOW YOU behave on and of the field or court will relate to your universal place in this world and AS we are ALL connected your actions change the overall outcome for US ALL. We ALL want a better life, a better world. And HOW YOU and I decide to ACT with OUR GOD given free will inevitably affects US ALL. I AM NOT of this world and AM a MAN of GOD. And live upon morals. Values. Ethical principles and priority of Family first. MAN and animals and ALL of the living. The environment. And stress HOW vital this foundation is to carry the weight of this life. This world. YES. Regarding ANY and every form of problems whether business or ANY human relations to persevere and overcome ANY form of adversity. Challenges. And the obstacles we face we must live accordingly and make decisions based on OUR wisdom from the past and the knowingness from right and wrong in OUR heart. Learning from OUR mistakes is the KEY to the future. This does ALL connect and relate to YOU and your life whatever business or career YOU are in. Even in relationships there must BE sacrifice. Unselfishness. Trust. Kindness. Patience. Restructuring and rebuilding sometimes from the ground UP. I could have closed MY store 7 years AGO when sales were LOW and because of MY living OUT of MY means in MY personal life MY store suffered and the ripple affect left ME know choice but to close or start over. I’VE experienced Family tragic deaths. Suicides. Multiple heart Breaks. And suffered with crippling severe anxiety and Depression which I still battle with today but AM convinced it has made ME stronger and a better MAN. I never really gave or HAD the chance to commit 100% of myself to MY store and decided to GET back on the horse but this time ride without looking back. Business basics. BE open. Never open late. Never close early. Stay on TOP of RE ordering and replenishing stock every DAY. Tracking supply and demand and adding the most popular brand names through counting every pair that walked through the door and even outside of the store itself. ONE brand AT a time slowly but surely I doubled MY sales and doubled them again ONE pair AT a time! the pride I take AS a MAN is in every pair of shoes I sell.
