Dental Examination

X-rays
We have introduced new digital x-rays as part of our effort to provide the safest treatment possible to our patients. Digital x-rays transmit 95% less radiation than traditional dental x-rays, and feature smaller, more comfortable sensors. Currently, our office features Digital Panorex full-face imaging. This technology allows for more accurate treatment and communication with dental specialists. The Digital Panorex can pick up unseen medical conditions and help our team make a comprehensive diagnosis.
Oral Cancer Screening
A dental checkup is a time for our doctors to evaluate your oral health. We typically recommend that patients schedule visits twice each year. However, patients with underlying conditions such as gum disease may need more frequent appointments. Each checkup includes an exam, cleaning, and oral cancer screening.

Teeth Cleaning
Dentistry from the Heart sponsored a free dentistry day at a local dental office in Valdosta and some of our dedicated team members attended. Each patient was allowed two out of three services that are provided. They were able to choose to have a dental cleaning, a tooth filled, or a tooth extracted. Saturday November 8th, 2014 was set aside to treat the patients that showed up. The doors opened at 8am and closed at 5pm. Many people who attended arrived the day prior to wait in line and some slept in their cars over night.
Fluoride Treatment
Depending on your age and your predisposition to decay, we may recommend a fluoride treatment or sealant to help prevent cavities. While this treatment is most common among pediatric patients, it can also benefit adults.
Dental Sealants
Fluoride is applied to the teeth to promote remineralization, helping to strengthen the enamel and limit the development of bacteria. In some cases, fluoride can even reverse decay. Sealants, on the other hand, are used to protect the chewing surfaces of your teeth. The thin, plastic coating is applied to the top of molars and premolars to prevent decay.

Fillings
Unlike metal amalgam fillings, tooth-colored fillings match the natural color of your teeth, making them virtually invisible to those around you. And because these fillings expand and contract at a similar rate as your teeth, they are a much better all-around fit for your smile.
