Park Chalk Bluff

My experience was terrible, Chalk Bluff website states several activities, but there was no Horseback riding, trails or paddle boats. The store and few activities were over-priced. The cabins were deteriorating, and infested with black mold (over-priced). The restroom and showers demonstrated mossy/greasy water. Our reserved campsite was already taken by a tent, and Chalk Bluff Staff made fun of the fact and told us to make best of the situation. Honestly, I would travel an extra 200 miles for a better deal.

Had an awesome time at Chalk Bluff! My daughter was married at Big Tree! A bunch of us camped out the day before and day of wedding and we had a great time! The owners were awesome and made my daughters wedding very special! Samantha and her family made the whole weekend memorable! And made sure we were all comfortable and well taken care of! In the short 3 months they gave taken over the park, they have done a lot of improvements! Can't wait too get back there for a long weekend!!

New Owners!!!!! They already are getting this place turned around in such a short time they have done so much. The cabins are surely getting updated and the animals look so much happier and healthier. I can not wait to go back.

This place is really nice. It was the first time we stayed. Good price for the "cabin" we rented. It was a bit run down, but when we were there they were cleaning out brush from wooded areas & putting in newer, nice cabins/trailers. The Nueces river is close to the cabins & the water was clean, clear & incredible (stayed summer months, HOT weather)! My 4 children loved staying in the shallow water for most of the day. It was safe for small children & they also had a rope tied to a tree near deeper water for fun for older kids. This is not the Embassy Suites for those who gave bad reviews. You are in a secluded wooded area where there is dirt & insects. If you want a "camping" experience (but with a/c) stay here. If you want a "hotel" experience, go somewhere else!! The staff was perfectly polite & my kids bottle fed baby goats, walked trails, fed horses, a llama, ponies, deer & birds. It was a memorable, wonderful, 3 days. I would definitely stay there again!

We stayed here six years ago and had such a great time. Returned this thanksgiving with all the family in tow. We we totally disgusted to find bed bugs in all four cabins we rented. They moved us to the premium cabins and unfortunately they too were infested. Four hours or unpacking, packing and moving to finally having to leave because of this. Very run down and dirty now. Such a shame. It used to be such a pretty place. I do not recommend it though anymore.

The rooms are very small, uguly, very very very dirty, completely nasty, insects erverywhere, refrigietor dirty, stove, dirty, the bathroom is totally nasty, the beds are horribles.

i pay 130 a nigth i spect at least a clean place

The staff has very very bad actitude, they are always mad

at the morning i can hear my neighbords making love even if i was outsaid of my room

I recomend this place if you go there and then stay in a hotel, because the river is beautiful or if you have a RV or you like to camping, other than that, they are stealing your money.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!! They gave us the wrong cabin though we had booked 3 months earlier and still charged us the price of the larger cabin that we had booked, our cabin had not been cleaned even though we did not check in till 3:30 on a weekday, we were told it would be tended to, at 9:00 pm that evening I had to hunt for someone to take care of the issues since we were unable to tolerate the stink of the old garbage that was in the cabin. They also charged my guests that had arrived a few hrs later even though they had already been paid for. The owner never came down to talk with us, the conditions of the cabins was horrid, stained sheets and mattresses, though we brought our own linens since we were told they were not provided, just another indication of how often they clean, a/c did not work, probably all the dust in the coils and zip ties holding it together, refrigerator was full of rust and kept leaking water out on the floor. Now lets go over the staff: rude, inconsiderate, disgusted when you ask for anything (eg: Asking them to check you in), foul mouthed, over all NONE of them should be allowed to work with the public, especially those that had planned to have a good vacation.

I was amazed at how beautifiul this park was. Clear water to swim in, lots of shade, play ground, you can feed the animals at no charge, free hay rides threw out the park, very clean, very friendly staff, and we already made our reservations for next year.
