- We are so excited you are interested in our volunteer program! The Humane Society of Tulsa is a no-kill Pet Adoption and Rescue Center located at 60th and Sheridan, behind the Whataburger. The Adoption Center is open to the public six days a week and there are over fifty dogs and cats in our care each day. Truth is the Humane Society of Tulsa would not be a success with out the help from volunteers. Volunteers help with all aspects of the Adoption Center from daily care of the animals to executing and planning special events that are imperative to raise funds for the organization. Before you apply, please take a look as some of the requirements, expectations, and benefits of the Humane Society of Tulsa volunteer program included in this packet. We want you to be sure this is the right fit for you. Once your application is received at our Adoption Center, we will contact you to schedule a training course and discuss your volunteer schedule. We truly appreciate your interest in our organization and hope you find making a difference in the life of a homeless animal as rewarding as we do!

A stray dog showed up at our door Friday night, called them Saturday morning about handing the dog over to them. They said that they don't do that.

We have adopted 2 wonderful dogs from the Humane Society over the past 3 years. The staff was wonderful! They were always extremely busy but always took the time to answer our questions, set us up with their veterinarian and even gave us a chance to bring in our own dogs to see if they mixed well with the dogs we were interested in. Falcon was a rescue case and Molly was an owner surrender. The $100 fee we paid was minimal considering it covered spay/neuter, shots, heartworm check and a full vet exam . They have also answered many other questions for us and we.ve taken both dogs back in for other visits as well. They always welcome the opportunity to see how the dogs have progressed while in our home. The staff is definitely dedicated to what they do! We LOVE our new four-legged family members.

This place does not care about helping dogs. I called to ask information about surrendering a friend's pet and the person on the phone set up an appointment time with me. He then told me that he did not have time to talk with me and hung up. When I went in for my appointment, the man who was supposed to evaluate the dog was out to lunch. So I waited. Ten minutes later I was told they did not have a spot for my dog. I asked if she could be evaluated anyway and then I would bring my dog back when a spot opened up. It turns out that the man was running 30 minutes or more late and that's why he couldn't evaluate my dog. I just can't believe they claim to care about dogs when they seem not to care about anything. I can't trust them with a dog if they act like this!
