None of the complaints that I have read here about VO repairing sets after 30 days have mentioned that they purchased an extended warranty with their sets. I have yet to find any store that will honor repairs beyond 30 days without paying for an extended warranty. I heard that Costco did but when I asked they said that they no longer did that and I wont buy from Fred Meyers because they would not even offer an exchange on a TV that broke a week after purchase. I got the 3 year extended on the 42inch Hitachi (offered free as an incentive to buy but still requiring separate paperwork and a statement on my receipt) that I bought in 2007 but it has always worked awesomely so I can't comment on that service but you cant expect VO to give you what you didn't pay for! The one year that comes with a set is a standard manufactures warranty that has nothing to do with the retailer. Once you have opened the box they will have to sell it as used so test your choice in the store before you buy after all that is what the floor model demonstrators are for.

I have since recommended them to friends and family who have all been impressed but today I returned to buy another set for myself. The first time I came in the salesman was attentive. He (Jared) offered a $100 off the price if I would take it now but I decided to do my research/homework first and left the store without feeling pressured. After discovering that the recommended TV was exactly what I wanted and that all of my local stores were still waiting for this model to arrive and that they were the lowest price I returned to purchase it. Since I did not see the original salesman I forgot to ask for him.This time the salesman did not offer any discount even when I asked him but now it had been marked a hundred dollars off on sale. However armed with the lowest internet price that I could find(including free shipping) he was willing to almost match it(adding $10 but I didn't try to get it lower) and including free delivery. At the counter he did not try to up-sell me or to my surprise offer the extended warranty. Since they, like the other stores, use an outside warranty service I opted to use Square Trade for a longer and cheaper one. He did express very clearly that I could return it within 30 days only for Exchange. Since I knew exactly what I wanted that was fine. I use the Tukwila store.
