have owned 4 Safari/Astro vans over the years. I always had the transmissions rebuilt by an eastside company. Each transmission that was rebuilt lasted over 150,000 miles with never any issues. The owner finally retired so I needed to find a new company. Someone suggested Troy Transmission.

I had my GMC safari van transmission rebuilt by Troy Transmission. The transmission only lasted 38,000 miles and then It began to have major problems. The gears were slipping and it leaked transmission fluid.

I immediately took my van back to Troy Transmission to have the owner - Mike - look at the transmission. Mike said that the transmission fluid is leaking out of the shifter shaft seal. I asked him to fix it. He could not fix it because his shifter shaft seal removal tool was broken. Seriously? The tool is $10 at NAPA auto parts. In addition, Mike left the keys turned on in the ignition with the engine off which ran my battery down.

I left Troy Transmission and went over to an auto repair shop to get an honest evaluation of my transmission. They put my van up on the hoist. They showed me that shifter shaft seal was leaking very very little and it is also above the transmission fluid level. Therefore, it is nearly impossible for the transmission fluid to leak excessively. I did add leak dye detector a few weeks prior. Using a special light the auto repair shop showed me that transmission fluid is leaking badly from the front main transmission seal. Basically the transmission has to come out of the van and be repaired.

The transmission should have lasted at least 75,000 miles without issues. It lasted 38,000 miles. That is pathetic.

I am very disappointed. They did a hack job on my transmission.

I do not recommend Troy Transmission.

Shame on you Troy Transmission!

I must say I was surprised by the honesty of this place. Troy trans fixed the transmission on my 2006 BMW. I was aware of the cost because he told me how much it would be before they finished the job. Being a female I wasn't to savvy on terms and what they do but Mike broke everything down for me. He is a very knowledgeable person and I was very comfortable with leaving my car with them. They took great care of it, he even asked me to bring it back in a week or so to make sure there were no leaks and everything was okay. If you need someone that does honorable work go to Mike at Troy Transmission he will take care of you.

My transmission went bad in my car and I did some research to find the best repair shop. Troy Transmissions had good reviews and was nearby. I talked with Greg on the phone and he seemed honest enough so that is where I took my car.

They did a complete transmission rebuild. The day after I picked up my 'repaired' car the transmission slipped. Obviously I was not too happy with this kind of results only 24 hours out of shop. I was covered by their one year warranty though so I brought the car back in. After another week or so Greg said that they had replaced a part (he wasn't specific and didn't tell me what it was) and that the car was ready for pickup again. I got the car back and the transmission continued to slip. I had to drive it for a few weeks though because I needed it for work. I brought the car into the shop several more times that year while it was under warranty and each time I got worse service than the time before and the real issue was still not addressed. They already had my $3,000 what did they care? They knew they were taking advantage of me. While Greg would always talk with me on the phone real cordial, when I went to pick up my car he would give me the keys and run away. He couldn't be honest face to face. I don't believe they actually did anything to my car the third and fourth times I brought it back. They were unwilling to acknowledge that their work wasn't sufficient and they simply didn't honor their warranty.

When I brought my car to Troy Transmissions it was inoperable. Now a year later (I am out of warranty) the transmission is like it was. Before going to Troy Transmissions be prepared to get the two year warranty and be prepared to take them to court!

Honest & Friendly

I visited Troy Transmissions suspecting an expensive transmission problem after 'eliminating' the wheel bearing as the root cause myself. Greg went on a test drive with me and then checked it out on the hoist with a sensitive automotive stethoscope to discover it was indeed the wheel bearing I dismissed. It would have been simple for him to tell me I was right and provide an expensive repair, but instead, provided an honest, friendly assessment. It is refreshing to find this type of service.

Excellent!

Troy Transmission offers the best service at the best price. They are transmission experts, and offer a great warranty. They fully explain what they will do BEFORE they do it and tell you the cost up front. I highly recommend them.
