The Traverse Bay Area Intermediate School District serves more than 27,000 students throughout Antrim, Benzie, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska and Leelanau counties. Located in Traverse City, Mich., the district operates over 16 public school districts, nearly 14 private and parochial schools and various public school academies. Its schools offer general academic, college preparatory, special education and Head Start programs. The district s schools academic curricula include language arts, math, science and social studies. Its high schools conduct classes in industrial arts, consumer education, French, Spanish and economics. The Traverse Bay Area Intermediate School District also provides various career and technical programs, such as auto mechanics, culinary arts, cosmetology, Web design, and welding and fabrication. The district s schools support sports activities, such as basketball, wrestling and skiing. In addition, The Traverse Bay Area Intermediate School District operates student organizations, including the National Honor Society and Future Farmers of America.
