I have adopted twice here and once at another shelter. The other shelter didn't test their animals and we took a puppy home with distemper. This could have made my other dogs sick or worse die. AAR treats, and care for all their animals. They even took back one of the dogs I adopted because I was having health issues. I strongly recommend them!!! I will always adopted from them. Also they are a no kill shelter. That's amazing

Overall

It's hard for me to understand how one could give less than 3 or 4 stars to this place just because they take great care of dogs and don't kill them. How could you give 2 stars to volunteers, who get paid NOTHING and keep angels alive until we match them up.

I don't work there but I know someone who does and she works very hard to make uncared-for babies comfortable. We got our current dog there and she was extremely well taken care of....they were nice to us but it really doesn't make much difference if they were or not. They do the jobs (for free) that we don't.

Anybody who'd give them 2 stars kinda grosses me out. Have a bitter life.

$50 isn't a bad price for spay...

$50 isn't a bad price for spaying, but as seen on their website they are no longer offering this service. Could it have anything to do with being caught by those who paid for the service only to find out that it was not actually done? Months after having her dog spayed here, my mom's cocker spaniel was in heat, again. Called to bring her in and was put off several times only to find that the website shows they no longer offer the service. Finally, she went to another vet and had her examined. The vet stated that they probably missed a small part of her ovaries, so my mom paid them to do the surgery and look for the particles. The vet opened her up to find a complete set of female organs. AAR had charged her for the surgery, added on extra charges because she was in heat at the time of surgery, and sent her home with instructions for treatment after her surgery. Only problem...the surgery was never done!

Send your donations elsewhere!!!

I agree. I really dislike goi...

I agree. I really dislike going here and I will not recommend anyone to this place. I have been there numerous times and felt really blasted by unnecessary and rude comments. I go because of the dogs and my child who has to go there for school credits. But, I always thought it was just me.

Now that I know he's like that to everyone. SHAME ON YOU. You're in the public, working with kids, and this is what you teach them is acceptable. Maybe you should work from home. 3 stars because you do do a valuable service but service skills are lacking.

Bigger place, a lot of "attitude," but hope is there.

I am glad that they finally got this location up and running. The "old" place was too small.

"james" always had a "holy" attitude. This is his "place", but he has chased MANY people away with his lack of customer servivc skills. (Maybe the experience at Wal-mart as an employee did not teach this to nim?). He definately calls the shots and accepts what he finds "acceptable".

As for organization, maybe the bigger space will allow them to be more organized, if there is a possability of it. I knew where my animals were in the adoption process at all times, just because there were animal interested people who would not tolerate a lot of "run-around." They felt better if there was exact answers to their inquiries.

But I wish them the besr of luck. The AAR has lasted this long, so they will be around for awhile. I hope things get easier for them.

Former Supporter

I have supported them in years past, with dog food, and many items for dogs that were left over after I closed my kennel.

I will no longer do so. They were rude....not the ladies, who had no authority....but the black man, who obviously calls the shots. Rude beyond belief.

adoptable dogs

great place, smells a bit, dogs are well taken care of, but no one ever knows what the status of any of the pets are ie. nutered, heartworms ect. To much confusion but still ya gotta appreciate them, they are doing a fair job.....
