COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT Lutheran Social Services of Northwestern Ohio Administrative Offices: 2149 Collingwood Blvd., OH 43620 Toledo; Phone 419-243-4450. Lutheran Social Services is a faith based social service ministry. A partnership of Glenwood Lutheran, Firm Foundations, and Boys & Girls Club has started a new garden. The youth have done a fabulous job and have enjoyed harvesting a wide array of fruits and vegetables. The young gardeners have planted fruit trees and perennials and next year neighborhood residents will be lending a green thumb as well. Feed Your Neighbor is a program of Toledo Area Ministries which is given the opportunity to serve those who, due to personal crisis are hungry and in need of food. Feed Your Neighbor gathers and distributes food items to persons who would otherwise go without. We do this through 14 food pantries located across the Toledo area, each supplying an emergency three day supply of food to people once a month. Glenwood Lutheran Church works through the Central Lutheran Social Services Distribution Point. To receive food, a referral is needed from the church. FOCUS is an interfaith not-for-profit agency working to end homelessness by promoting dignity, hope, and independence. FOCUS offers transitional and permanent housing, plus life skills and job development programs, to help people overcome homelessness in the Toledo area.
