Catering By The Family, Inc is a spin off of The Family Sandwich Shoppe opened in 1976, a 60 seat family restaurant. It won the Tampa Tribune Cuban Sandwich Contest in 1976, 1977 and 1979. Frequent road improvements on Henderson Boulevard had an adverse effect on business at the sandwich shop ; therefore it was necessary to diversify business.Their initial entry into catering was very cautious, focusing primarily on simple party platters and sandwich trays. As their confidence grew, they ventured into small off-premise events, such as weddings, baby showers and quinces/Sweet 16 parties.In 1982, the Gonzalez & Guggino Family saw the opportunity to pursue the field of off-premise catering as a creative catering experience, providing specialty foods from all cultures and walks of life and the flexibility of going to any location. Thus Catering By The Family, Inc was established.In 1991, a BBQ division called Cookout America was added. Their business philosophy, which has always served them well, is to offer, "good food, good service at a good price." Every party should have a special touch and every wedding should be done with a caring feeling. As the years passed they acquired more knowledge of fine foods ; expanding into the areas of display cooking, elaborate food and floral design and custom party planning.In 1993, Catering By The Family moved to a new 6, 000 sq. ft. facility with a 2, 500 sq. ft. kitchen operation, 2, 500 sq. ft. warehouse and 1, 000 sq. ft. of administrative office space.In 1994, Catering By The Family, Inc was the winner of the Special Events Magazine 1994 Reader's Choice as "Most Creative Table Top Design" competition.In August 2002, Catering By The Family, Inc took an enormous step and acquired a 17, 500 square foot facility on Cypress Street. With a 3, 500 square foot kitchen, 2000 square foot in administrative office space and 12, 000 square feet in Warehouse space, Catering By The Family will be able to offer Tampa Bay with the optimum in technological advances and the finest customer service.Catering By The Family maintains a full time staff of professional service personnel and theme party designers and is able to provide Catering services for all in home, office, special events and conference meetings that your company might need.
