I filed a claim after Hurricane Irma in the fall of 2017 and it has taken 8 months of fighting and scratching with FedNat to get just a partial settlement. It has been a mix of misinformation, disappearing employees, and contradictions of opinion by their “professional” adjusters. They left me in the dark for 2 ½ months when they did not respond to me.

FedNat sent out an adjuster who advised I would need a new roof due to storm damage. Weeks went by waiting for his report, but nothing. According to FedNat, he “didn’t work there anymore” and my references to him were dismissed as if the guy never existed. Next FedNat sends out a guy named Kevin Curtin. He is considered their “best adjuster.” Other than the fact he dismissed all the damage found by the previous adjuster, he claimed my roof was in “perfect condition.”

Of course, Mr. Curtin’s report showed I would not need a roof replacement and did not meet the hurricane deductible based on the other damages. When I called to discuss this further with the FedNat agent assigned to my claim, he also disappeared and no one knew who he was. I finally spoke with Ms. Carol Cannon, a claims supervisor, who made light of my claim, laughed at me, but then changed her tune when I said Mr. Curtin told me not to worry about mold possibilities. She sent out an “impartial” company by the name of Jack Brown & Asso. Their inspector came out and took a lot of photos, but the report he provided centered on only 2 areas of my roof. His assessment said there was pre-existing damage so FedNat was not responsible.

The 2 people that showed up couldn’t keep their facts or story straight. Then they changed tactics and claimed it was poor workmanship and low quality roofing shingles. I was able to get just under 50% of the funds for a new roof, but I had to work hard for MY money. There are too many similar stories, so my case is not isolated. Hope are you now thinking twice about working with these people.
