Bull's Pen Cafe

I still am unsure whether it was the seasoning or just poor cooking, but this food was not good at all. My husband ordered shrimp and steak with mashed potatoes and rice. I had filet Mignon with mashed potatoes and creamed corn. We also ordered an appetizer of onion rings, which were the best part of what we ordered. They were great!. They also brought us some rolls, which were also good. It went downhill fast from the starters. Our friends ordered a chicken salad and chicken strips with fries. Nothing to write home about there. But our steaks were not worth what we paid for them, the creamed corn was awful, and my husbands shrimp was terrible. I am almost certain it was the seasoning they used, almost tasted old. Still very thrown off by this as I had looked forward to trying this place for some time now and the reviews seem above average. Definitely left wondering how anyone could like this place. Maybe just an off day, but we will never be back. :-(

The service was great and my server Eddie was very attentive on my vist mid Jan 2012. I tried Bull's pen when it first opened and the service was a little, but that is understandable. I have been in the food service industry for over 25 years and I really enjoyed the food. The rollswere hot and fresh the the chicken fried steak was a real steak that was breaded. The peach cobbler was some of the best that I have had in awhile. I will keep going back and will recommend to my family and friends

Not verry costumer friendly they don't hold to posted hours of operation. Seen the establishment off the freeway stopped in around 9:00pm the posted hours said they don't close till 9:30pm my 3 year old son had to pee. Was a sign that said restroom for customers only this wasn't a problem have and make plenty of money and for my son not to pee his pants in my car I would've bought just about anything on the menu when I got to the door I was told they were closes a half hour early even though there was customers inside eating I told the guy my situation he then lied and said that he didn't have access to a key to the locked door so I guess nobody gets to leave the building that night and threatened to call the cops on a potential customer and his 3 year old son and wife. When I called later to talk to a manager I was told this is there standerd for customer care and a manager or owner would not do anything to help me.

Filet was delicious and cooked to order. Chicken fried steak was thin & tough, cooked too hard. Mashed potatoes were runny. Food arrived at the table luke warm after quite a wait. Service staff were pleasant & attentive. I would try it again.
