Cherryvale Baptist Church

In 1984, my wife and I arrived at Izmir, Turkey for a two year tour while I was serving in the Air Force. Shortly before my tour had ended, I got orders to Shaw AFB in Sumter, SC. I began praying for a local church to attend. My wife was expecting our first child so we really wanted to find a good church to start our family on the right foot. Upon arriving back to the States and to my new unit, I asked my co-workers if they knew of a good church in the area. My supervisor invited me to Cherryvale. I was seeking a good Bible Believing, faithful, warm church. The next Sunday, I arrived a little late due to the fact I got lost. My wife was still in Virginia as she was due to deliver our first child at any moment. Pastor Bowen was preaching when I arrived. The sermon seemed a little boring until I starting checking my bible of all the verses he quoted! The more I listened, the more I got out of the service. The people there were so warm and friendly; I became a member:)
