Overall

I have been a client of this agency for almost 20 years and have multiple policies with them. Every time I had to make a change to one of my policies or request a review prior to my renewal date, they took care of me in a friendly and professional manner. As a former insurance agent myself, I understand the importance of looking out for the client’s best interest. I trust Theodore & Associates to do just that. They have never let me down.

Overall

Do yourself a favor and don't get mixed up with this agency. I've been involved with them for auto and home since 2008 or so with very poor service:
1. each year they fail to explain increases, normally don't reply with any answer and, at one time claimed increases were due to bad driving records. On my request SLED provided a drivers record that was stellar and at my expense.

2. once while I was completing a vehicle purchase and needed an insurance binder to leave the dealership the dealer couldn't obtain one from the Summerville Theodore office. The office personnel said they were short staffed that day. When I called the owner he said the same and I had to wait until it was convenient for them. I was >100 miles away from home so no fun returning to the dealership another time. Incidentally, since this incident I have been searching for a new agent and just recently switched the homeowners, vehicle and, umbrella to another agent but left one policy discussed below.

3. just got off the phone and they told me the postage machine in the Columbia office was broke so I could not have my check returned to me. Probably 6 or more phone calls to the agency and including 1 to the insurance company to finally get this answer. The insurance company billed me directly and also billed the mortgage company and we were looking for one of the checks to be returned. We paid October 11 and our understanding is the mortgage company paid it October 17 (BTW due November 1) and here it is December 8 and no return or suggestion when it will be returned.

Stay away .....

BTW, changing agencies saved $700 annual premium for comparable coverage.
