Ophthalmology
Dr. Jones has trained at some of the most prestigious institutions in the world. After graduating first in his class in Chemical Engineering and Applied Mathematics, he earned his degree in medicine from Yale University. He then completed his ophthalmology residency at Wills Eye Hospital, which is consistently rated as one of the top three ophthalmology programs in the United Stated by US News and World Reports. Dr. Jones then completed fellowship training in cornea, complex anterior segment surgery and refractive (LASIK) surgery. Dr. Jones scored in the top 1% of graduating eye surgeons on his board examinations.
Macular Degeneration
Elizabeth Shanika Esparaz M.D., a native of Cleveland, will be returning home after completing her training in ophthalmology and vitreoretinal disease at Boston University. She is excited to serve patients in Northeast Ohio and offer her expertise in comprehensive eye care, as well as cataract surgery. She is also a fellowship-trained retina specialist, offering the latest technology in treatment for macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and retinal tears. Dr. Esparaz is a graduate of Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine, where she was honored as one of the top medical students in her class by induction to the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. In addition, she was awarded membership to the Gold Humanism Honor Society for recognition as an exemplar of compassionate patient care and as a role model, mentor, and leader in medicine. Dr. Esparaz has presented her work at national conferences and has published in several peer-reviewed journals. During her training, she was elected by her peers as an Ambassador for the Academy of Ophthalmology and served as a delegate on Capitol Hill. She also served as the Quality Initiative representative for the Department of Ophthalmology at Boston University Medical Center. Married with one child and a golden retriever, Dr. Esparaz enjoys many fitness activities, playing tennis, traveling, baking, and photography. She resides in Gates Mills, Ohio.
Laser Eye Surgery
Saint Clare of Assisi, a follower of Saint Francis, left her noble Italian family to found the women’s religious order known as the “Poor Clares”. The Poor Clares led a life of austerity and gave unselfishly of themselves to others. Today, our goal at Saint Clare Surgery Center is to follow St. Clare’s example by giving our eye surgery patients the very best care possible in a warm, friendly atmosphere.
Cataracts
Dr. Thomas Repko is a graduate of Miami University of Ohio and Ohio State University: Specializing in cataract/implant surgery, laser surgery, oculoplastic surgery and refractive surgery, Dr. Repko is a Board Certified Diplomate of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr Repko served his internship and residency at Akron City Hospital, where he retains an active staff position, along with a position on staff at Akron General Medical Center. He is an Associate Clinical Professor at Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine and a faculty member of Summa Health System. Dr. Repko was awarded the prestigious 2001 Teacher of the Year honor by Summa Department of Ophthalmology.
Cataract Surgery
The founder and Medical Director of Northeast Ohio Eye Surgeons and St. Clare Surgery Center, Dr. Lohman was among the first surgeons in the Ohio to perform LASIK and Laser Cataract Surgery. He has spoken nationally and internationally on eye issues, including presentations in Russia, Japan and throughout Europe and the United States, and has been a frequent contributor to leading medical and scientific publications.

Kimberly A. Cingle, M.D. has been recognized in Best Doctors in America and as a Cleveland Magazine Top Doc. A skilled cataract surgeon, Dr. Cingle also specializes in treating patients with macular degeneration, glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy. A multiple award winner of the Summa Health Systems Department of Ophthalmology “Teacher of the Year,” Dr. Cingle is committed to training other ophthalmologists in medical and surgical techniques. She also serves as Senior Instructor of Ophthalmology at Case Western Reserve University Medical School. A leader in the area, Dr. Cingle is a past president of the Cleveland Ophthalmological Society and currently serves as its vice-president. Married with two children, Dr. Cingle enjoys running, traveling, the cinema, and spending time with family. She resides in Brecksville.
