Nutritional Counseling
We recognize that one of the reasons many of our clients board with us is the additional safety we provide by having your cat observed regularly with trained professionals available should an illness develop. Our experience has shown that while most cats settle into their new environment here quickly (and our boarding area is designed to facilitate this process), some cats may have a decreased appetite for the first 24 hours. If we notice this, we will administer a safe, mild appetite stimulant at no charge. However, any cats showing signs of illness or who have not eaten in 36-48 hours will be examined by one of veterinarians and we will contact you immediately with our findings and recommendations.
Comprehensive Examination
Caring for your cat while you’re away is very important to us. All cats that board with us should have had a physical exam within the past 18 months.

Illness Treatment

Parasites Treatment and Control
After check in, your cat will be examined for fleas and ticks and if detected, these will be treated immediately at your expense.
Skin Condition and Allergy Treatment
Where does all of that cat hair go? Just Cats is committed to helping find a cure for pet allergies. The hair collected from our grooming area is provided to allergy research facilities so they can continue to look for cures and treatments for feline allergies.

Infection Treatment

Feline Retro Virus Treatment
Vaccinations may not be necessary yearly. One year after the initial distemper, rabies, and leukemia vaccines, cats should be evaluated again by the veterinarian. If healthy, the veterinarian will administer additional boosters of these vaccines that will be effective for 1 year. After the immunizations that are administered to kittens and the initial booster vaccines one year later, the next FVRCP immunizations will be effective for 3 years. The rabies boosters are continued annually (or once every 3 years if a 3 year vaccine is administered). For cats that go outside or have a risk of exposure to leukemia virus, yearly immunization against feline leukemia virus is recommended.

Thyroid Disease Treatment
What is Feline Hyperthyroidism? The thyroid is a butterfly shaped gland located in the neck region. Feline Hyperthyroidism occurs when the thyroid gland develops one or more growths that produce an excess of thyroid hormone. 98% of these tumors are benign (adenoma) while 2% percent are cancerous (carcinoma). 70% of cats have both lobes of the thyroid gland affected.
Periodontal Disease Treatment
Dental disease affects cats as much as it does people. The accumulation of bacteria laden plaque can lead to long term oral health issues. Over 80% of adult cats have some form of periodontal disease and recent studies have shown an association between oral hygiene and more general health issues. Veterinary Surgery
Spaying and Neutering
(if he is a male). Spaying cats before they go into heat makes the surgery a less complicated procedure and greatly reduces the chances of reproductive tract disease and undesirable behavior later in life. Neutering cats before they mature also lessons the likelihood of spraying and aggressive behavior. Both of these are out-patient procedures - cats are dropped off in the morning and can go home that afternoon.

Laboratory Services
Should also be considered at this first visit. These are viruses that can be passed from mother cat to kittens. They can also be transmitted to other cats through bite or scratch wounds. If you have another cat at home, it is a good idea to have your kitten screened with this blood test before introducing the cats.
