Last year I had my house put on solar power by Smart Energy in Washington State. On Thurday 12/29/2016 I got a phone call from Jay Niles, a director from Ameritax Finacial, a partner of Smart Energy and saying it does all the customers tax return, and I needed to pay $690 for my 2016 personal tax return including the solar power issue. I asked where this company was. I was told the company served thousands of clients and all customers from Smart Energy in their local branch. So I trusted him and let him charged my credit card. On Tuesday 1/3/2017 I got an email from Doug Vawter. He sent me an empty form and asked me to fill out electric bill information, interest paid, and social security number, etc. When I saw the email from Utah, I felt uncomfortable. Then I checked the reference. Smart Energy indicated that Ameritax Finacial was its partner, but I did not have to use the Tax service, I could ask the $690 refunded. And the web showed Ameritax Finacial had 1 to 4 employee and it’s revenue was 2.5 to 3 million. The evidence is inconsistent with what the director claimed. So I asked for a refund. I called several times but no answer until Thursday 1/5/2017, Phil answered my phone saying they could not refund because the charge was over 3 days. I said that I had not received your tax service, and I did not even send out any bit of my tax information yet. Then he offered they only do the solar power part for my tax. I refused because I did not want more than two tax firms to prepare my tax return. Then he said he would contact me the next day. The next day on Friday, he failed to contact me. So I called him and left message but no return. On Monday 1/9/2017 a man who claim him customer manager called me. He refused to refund me the money saying it passed 3-days refund period. I said from the first day when I was asked to pay $690, Jay Niles never said there was a 3-days refund period. I fell really disappointing with the way Ameritax Finacial dealing with its customers.
