I'm not one who usually leaves reviews about companies. I've never had a really horrible, or completely awesome, experience with a company, beyond what you'd normally expect. But I figure, why not? I'll give it a go. Especially when this particular place is one I'd really like to warn everyone about.
#ThompsonAutoRepair of Springville TN....
Where do I start?
How about here - they've had my Volkswagen Golf TDI (turbo) for months. Not weeks. MONTHS. Part of the problem was finding out the problem. No big deal. We weren't driving the car at the time, so when it was suggested I let them look at it, I figured it wouldn't hurt anything.
Several weeks later, a few problems it could have been had been ruled out. He said I need a new turbo. Great. I didn't want to sink a thousand bucks into this right now. So we did some looking around. Several weeks later, found a part for $600 instead of the $1000 he quoted us.
My husband talked to someone out of state interested in buying the car, and he agreed to buy the part and have it shipped to us. In the meantime, my hubby met up with this person, who had found another vehicle he was going to trade for my VW. Since he needed the room at his place, we went ahead and brought that vehicle home with us, with the understanding that Thompson's would have our car fixed in a week or so.
That was well over 2 months ago.
Every time I call or go out there, I get the run around. I've heard everything from "I had a big commercial truck come in this morning" to "I'm pulling it into the shop within the next hour" to the ever worrisome "foreign cars are so hard to work on!"
The last time I went by to see if my car had even been moved out of the yard towards the shop, my window was down. And it had rained the day before. My tint was all scratched up where the window had fallen into the door. When I brought it to their attention, they proceeded to scramble to find tools to take the panel off and get the window up.
That's when I saw the inside of the car. My poor, light tan interior.... The part that was being replaced had been taken off the motor and thrown onto my seat. Grease and all. Black grease everywhere.
I. Am. Livid.
It has been 6 months since my car has seen my driveway. Almost three since they received the part to fix the problem. And over two that we have owed the out of state guy either a VW, or $1500....
Thompson Auto Repair, YOU OWE ME. Get off your butts and fix my car! Unless you'd prefer to just pay our guy the fifteen hundred bucks he's been out all this time....
DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE unless you have no problem missing it for the better part of a year. Even then, I'd be cautious.
Sincerely,
One Ticked Off Ex-Customer
