Ayres Memorial Animal Shelter

Ayres is by far the best shelter I have ever been to. The staff clearly love and care for the dogs as if they are their own. Very clean and the staff are very friendly. I adopted a beagle from them and they are very thorough with the vet check and home visit. They are the best!

Not sure why the other reviewer had such a bad experience here, but I've always enjoyed the employees, every was very nice, we've adopted several cats and dogs over the last 15 years from here and never had a problem. The facilities could be better but they do great with what they have.

Employees are rude. Living conditions for the dogs were poor. I was told i could not meet a dog because it was an hour before closing time. If they want to find homes for the dogs so badly they should let you meet your dog no matter how close to closing time it it. The lady was so wrapped up in talking to her friend that she ignored us for 20 minutes before telling us to go out back and look at dogs even though we already had ours picked out. One of the dogs could jump higher than the fence and it was growling at us. It could have escaped and attacked us. Shut this place down.
