I just want to say that I had an absolute awful experience at this school. After you hear my story, you may want to re-think sending your child to this school. My son started at the little school when he was 2. He had a few issues there with behavior which I tried to correct before he went over to the big school because I was warned that Mrs. Thompson was strict. So I thought maybe a behavioral doctor would help me with some tips on how to correct some things. Holland Pediatrics diagnosis was that he was a normal little boy and if I felt therapy was needed, they offered me some numbers to call. This appointment cost me $119.53. Finally my son is potty trained and was transferred to the big school. My son is pretty loud, so the 94 year old owner who can not deal with noise wants my son evaluated. So I proceed to do what she wants and switched my sons doctor from northeast philly to center city at Society Hill Pediatrics. Dr. McSorley who is wonderful diagnosed him as a normal little boy that just blows his top sometimes. The doctor was so nice and said the teachers could call her at anytime if they had any questions on how to deal with his behavior. Good enough. Nope. Not really. Not good enough for Mrs. Thompson. This appointment cost me $168.53 plus $50 to transfer the medical records. So I proceed again to send him to Theraplay. This appointment cost me $90 for the behavior specialist to tell me that she does not see any aggressive behavior and once again he is a normal four year old boy. Below is a letter I drafted to the director at Jolly Tots for my plan for my son. Although, I did not think it was necessary, I set out to do it anyway. Due to our various conversations in regards to Mikey’s behavior in class, I give you permission to take a video of his outbursts. I believe the best approach is to start taping at the moment you think the situation will occur based on your past experiences with him, so that we can see what the cause is. I would also like to see how his punishment is handled if possible. Mikey has had two evaluations so far. The first one was with Holland Pediatrics with a behavior specialist. She reported there was nothing neurological and she referred me to other specialists that I have contacted who either had waiting lists or were not taking anymore children. His second evaluation was with Dr. McSorley at Society Hill Pediatrics, whom you have spoken to. Her diagnosis was that it was not neurological and that he is an over emotional child who needs some type of therapy to reduce stress in certain situations. Mikey will have a third evaluation at Theraplay on February 25, 2014. Other places I have tried and will continue to try again if this does not fit his needs are S.P.I.N., CHOP, and Dr. Katie O’Duyr, which is another specialist that Dr. McSorley recommended. I appreciate your attention to this matter and helping me figure out what Mikey needs. I am hopeful we will find a solution. This letter was never acknowledged. I have been harassed with texts even still after this about what I am going to do about his behavior. I think the above letter proves I have done enough. A video was never taken because his teacher said his outbursts have been shorter. So contradictory information that his behavior has been better, but yet Mrs. Thompson is still concerned? The final straw was when the director mentioned maybe my son had • Hypoglycemia• Hypoglycemia is a condition that occurs when your blood sugar (glucose) is too low. Blood sugar below 70 mg/dL is considered low. Blood sugar at or below this level can harm you. What does this have to do with behavior I ask?????? Is she a doctor now???? The teacher even admitted she was “grasping at straws.” I hope everyone really thinks twice before going through what I did. Unless y...

Overall

Worst experience ever. Mrs. Thompson is rude and bitter towards parents. My child was told to leave because of a medical condition. Another parent was hollered for slamming the door by accident. The little school is great, but moving to the big school is tough. Mrs. Thompson wants all children to be perfectly behaved every second of the day. She does not have many nice things to say. I have already read some other bad reviews on greatschools.org
