If you are missing several teeth in one area of your mouth they can be replaced similar to an individual tooth by using dental implants. Depending on how many teeth are missing they can be replaced either with an individual implant for each tooth or with several implants providing support for multiple teeth, similar in concept to a fixed bridge.

Root Canal Treatment
I was a hard case. I had advanced periodontal disease, 2 broken teeth, 1 dead tooth from an old root canal. I was harboring an infection and had to get in quick for emergency surgery. I wasn’t just unattractive, my life was in danger.

Dentures
A small amount of bleeding is to be expected following the operation. If bleeding occurs, place a gauze pad directly over the bleeding socket and apply biting pressure for 30 minutes. If bleeding continues, a moist tea bag can be used for 30 minutes. If bleeding occurs, avoid hot liquids, exercise, and elevate the head. If bleeding persists, call our office immediately. Do not remove immediate denture unless the bleeding is severe. Expect some oozing around the side of the denture.
Overdentures
Implant supported over-dentures are dentures that use implants to help maintain them and provide them with more retention and strength. They are extremely cost effective as your current denture can often be modified to function with your new implants. For an implant-supported overdenture, the denture still must be removed at night, but since it has implants to clip onto it fits and feels more secure than traditional dentures.

Because we are talking about a service, and not just a product, the final cost of oral surgery treatment can vary significantly from patient to patient, given the particulars of each case.
Jaw Surgery
An Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon is an internationally recognized specialty within dentistry that specializes in treatment of diseases, injuries, and defects to the mouth and facial structures. After four years of dental school, oral surgeons spend 4 to 6 years of additional training in a hospital based surgical residency. In residency they gain vast experience with dental implant surgery, removal of teeth, corrective jaw surgery, facial trauma, pathology, anesthesia and treatment of medically complex patients. Patients are typically referred to oral surgeons by their general dentist when they require treatment outside their dentistâ€™s standard scope of care. Oral surgeons are often referred to for extractions, dental implants, biopsies, bone grafts, and pathology. They are also referred patients who have significant anxiety, as they can provide a wide spectrum of sedation anesthesia in their office.

Maxillofacial Surgery
Dr. Martin became enchanted with the challenge and learning opportunities in oral and maxillofacial surgery and was accepted into the Highland Hospital residency program. He sharpened his skills in the broad scope of oral surgery, including dental implant treatment, anesthesia, dentoalveolar surgery, pathology, maxillofacial injuries, jaw corrective surgery, and TMJ surgery and management.
Tooth Extractions
After tooth extraction, itâ€™s important for a blood clot to form to stop the bleeding and begin the healing process. Thatâ€™s why we ask you to bite on a gauze pad for 30-45 minutes after the appointment. If the bleeding or oozing still persists, place another gauze pad and bite firmly for another 30 minutes. You may have to do this several times.
Ridge Augmentation

Using advanced technology, we are able to replace and regenerate bone where it is needed. There are multiple techniques used for bone grafting, depending on the location and specific needs of each patientâ€™s case.

Orthodontics
When most people think about orthodontics, they think about straightening and repositioning teeth that are crooked or out of alignment. But sometimes the underlying problem is actually the size and shape of the jaws themselves, not just the teeth. In these cases, an oral surgeon joins the treatment team to perform what is called orthognathic surgery, a procedure that corrects the position of the jaws so that the teeth and facial structures are more properly aligned. Patients who undergo this surgery not only have improved facial appearance, but also report improved speaking, chewing and breathing as well.
Braces
Intermaxillary Fixation â€“ this is where surgical braces are placed around the teeth and then the braces are fixed together. This is often referred to as wiring the jaws together. For certain fractures of the upper and/or lower jaw, this is the best option, as it completely stabilizes the fractured area(s). Generally this period of stabilization lasts between 4 â€“ 8 weeks depending on the type and severity of the fracture.
