Avalon Dental Center Somerville

I took my 6 year old son in because we were concerned after one of his baby teeth came out while eating lunch. The tooth didn't look like a clean break and so we went in the next day. Perhaps we were just being overly concerned parents, but no one here made us feel that way at all.
Dr.Bains happened to be near the front desk and greeted us right away. My son was extremely nervous about being at the dentist. For some reason, he was much calmer once Dr. Bains began talking to him. She was able to give him a quick x-ray, and explain that my son had a blood clot and that everything should be fine. She encouraged me to give her a call if the condition didn't get any better.

I wouldn't normally write a review for a dentist visit, but I was pretty impressed with the way she treated my son (spoke to him like a big kid and not a baby) which I think really helped calm his fears.

I had really great experience at Avalon Dental office. Their technology is impressive, their staff is really great. I found particularly impressive is that Dr.Ofir and his staff were truly interested in and excited about the lumineers that I was getting done, also they were so helpful along the way. I feel that I got good value in terms of price and being honest I feel that the technology, attention to detail, and the personalized support I received were excellent. I have already passed along their contact information to multiple people, and would happily discuss my experience with anyone! I had a dental emergency on Saturday morning, as an old crown broke. After calling several dental offices, Dr. Bains was the only dentist who was available to see me. I'm so glad I found this Avalon Dental Center. The front staff is very friendly and Doctor is great. She replaced two old crowns with porcelain ones and they fit perfectly. I have never been so pampered at any dental office!!

This was my fourth visit to Avalon Dental Center and I am satisfied once again! My cleaning was quick and easy. The hygienist did a wonderful job and I felt really refreshed after. I did not have any treatment, ( I did all of my fillings here ). The hygienist also provided me with knowledge on how to keep my teeth in good shape. Overall, great trip to the dentist.

I had a very unpleasant experience with the office manager/owner Ben. Almost two months ago my twelve year old son fell and badly chipped his two front teeth. After a nightmare experience with West Somerville Dental, who are completely incompetent I called my provider, MA Health, and told them I wanted to change to another dentist. They had me file a complaint and told me it takes 30 days to resolve complaints but I should feel free to find another dentist, which I did, Avalon Dental Center. I brought him for the appointment and the dentist was actually really nice and seemed to know what he was talking about. Then as I was leaving I made a follow up appointment and the secretary said that MA Health would not approve payment for the crowns he needs. I explained that I filed a complaint with MA Health about the other dentist and once it was resolved it wouldn’t be a problem. Then she said MA Health did not approve the crown for my son at all because the other dentist had done some temporary filling, which fell off in a day, so now he couldn’t get the crown. I was surprised to hear this and when I called MA Health the next day they said this isn’t true they will cover the crowns they just need to complete the investigation regarding my complaint about my first dentist. After the girls said this Ben, the oh so efficient office manager/owner, starts piping in because he’s worried he isn’t going to get paid. I told them the fillings fell out the same day they were put in and part of my complaint and I was confident I could get MA Health to cover the crowns, but in the off chance they didn’t I have a Care Credit account, which they had prominently displayed on their counter as something they accept, so I would pay with that since I’m not going to leave my son without front teeth. I told them I had a week to get this resolved with MA Health and I would handle it. The next day Ben calls me and starts harassing me about how he spoke to a supervisor at MA Health and they recommended not doing any work until the case is resolved. I was surprised by this since I had made it clear yesterday I would handle MA Health and if they wouldn’t cover it I’d use Care Credit. Then he tells me Care Credit won’t pay until the work is done. Yeah, Ok and what’s the problem with that? Why would I pay before the work was done and if you don’t like the way Care Credit does business why do you advertise that you accept it? He talks to you like he is being so nice and polite and helpful when what he is really saying is to you “HAND OVER THE MONEY OR GET OUT”. The truth is I did want to cancel at that point but I liked the dentist and my son has been through so much already I just want him to get his teeth fixed. I told Ben I would deal with MA Health and let him know by Friday what the situation is. Twenty minutes later he had his secretary call me and tell me to find my son another dentist. I don’t really mind doing this since Ben the office manager is clearly a money hungry a**hole and since he owns the practice I don't want to do anything to line his pockets. It’s just hard that my poor twelve year old son has to suffer because there seems to be a shortage of decent dentist in the Somerville area both in skill and kindness. Ben stick it you creep!
