I took my car in to be worked on and the owner seemed nice enough. He agreed to let me pay weekly instead of all at once, and I was really excited to have my car fixed. Instead, he demanded I pay $200 a week, and held the title to my car the entire time. He took eight months to swap a transmission and made me pay him even though I hadn't had a bill at all. In the end, I got my car back, but the redone transmission failed three miles up the road. EIGHT MONTHS I was carless. I ended up taking my car somewhere else, and the transmission was replaced for half the cost in three days.



When I took this car in, a friend had done the same thing. Nine months later, the owner called to tell her her car was a write off -- she picked it up and took it to a new shop, and discovered that almost $1000 worth of parts had been stripped from her car and stolen.
